Time to get your big boy or big girl pants on, snow has come to the Rockies, looks like every road with a pass on it will have a chain requirement sometime in the next two days

    Just a heads up guys.
As a 16yr dispatcher, Ive handled a lot of drivers in multiple weather situations so I can tell you one thing that you can take to heart.

It takes skill and practice to drive in the snow and ice. If you dont feel comfortable, shut it down. Its only freight, and its not worth your or others lives, or damage to equipment and other property. Sure, people will scream and yell, but as a dispatcher, once I brought up the accidents I have been involved with, customers are usually placated enough knowing we are taking care of their product. Even if it means it being a little late.

Chains can only do so much, so be smart and be safe.
At the end of the day, there is too much demand for smart Class A drivers out there to put up with a employer or contractor who is unreasonable and willing to risk your life and livelihood.

Interstate 84 along with the Portland area is going to be a mess for the next couple days. 4-6 inches of snow and some ice in the Portland area and then 8-12inches of snow just east of Portland in the Columbia River Gorge along with high winds. Cabbage is going to get quite a bit of snow as well. Should be fun and most likely will have to chain up.

I dont see the problem Joseph--I have a GPS that says the way from Ft pierce--is 95n--10w--5n.....shouldn't have much problem that way..since the next couple of storms should be gone by the time you arrive:biggrin_25525:

Now keep in mind it has been over 10 years since I did that (or similar)...wouldn't it be about Birmingham north up to KC then cut to Lincoln and across 80 then onto 84?
