LOL, google Grimes canyon road, also known as Ca. 23 runs from Fillmore to Moorpark,Ca got some bad directions last year, by the time I saw the sign that said no king pin over 30' I had no where to turn around, I was empty and said what the hell.

I made it no problem, but I'm sure there were a lot of cars that never thought they would see that combo on that road, oh well, another one to cross off my list. LOL

BTDT when I worked for SO-CAL Edison.......

I used to go out with the Transmission Crews in those hills and in Malibu Hills too....

There were some roads that we would have to disconnect the compressor and take out half the tools, Bags of concrete...Temp Asphalt....And the truck would still crawl up those grades.......

But What do you expect from a work truck powered with a little ole 3208 Kitty? :biggrin_2559:

Hey now! Chains are an Alberta oil patch truckers best friend. Without chains the the patch would spin out and go backwards down the hill. I can usually throw a set of triples in 5-7 minutes. I work with a few old guys including my old man who can put chains on (singing tight) in 2 minutes. It's all about practice and what's easier for you!

I find when adjusting chains, do them up all nice and snug. Drive 3-4 feet and adjust them. At our shop one of the mechanics took two hooks, (not the middle one the outer one) welded them together side by side and put s snipe onto it. Makes for great leverage. There is also a tab so you use the tightener

You might have that "luxury" in the "Great White North"....When Chaining-Up in CO or Cali....You get 30 minutes....No time to screw-up...Get it right the first time and move out...There's a hundred more drivers that need "your" spot.....:biggrin_25523:

I like putting chains on. I actually get a break from driving bahaha.. well my record for minimum is 8minutes then after that always took longer I guess depending on how cold my hands are will depend on my speed

Those hundred other drivers if I'm taking too long can help throw a set or two. I would rather not damage fenders etc cause I'm being rushed. btw it takes me about 45 min to get the chains perfect.
