It could be something as simple as an open top box with an expanded steel bottom, but you are going to want to have a hook holder like the one in your picture or a piece of angle iron. You need something to hang the hooks on even if it is just right above the box. That way you can put them back in the same order and pull them out in the opposite order. I had to store chains in a box like the one you had pictured for awhile and you wind up having to pull them all out at once and untangle them on the ground.

    SHC Thanks this.

Did this one on my old trailer. In the tarp box I put a bar across 1/4" x 2" down about 3" from the top of the box. I used 2"x2" box tubing just for spacer blocks behind it, one on each end and one in the middle. Chains and binder weight adds up real fast so I used big heavy washers on the back to keep the bolts from pulling through. One weekend I happened to be in one of the boxes and saw the floor breaking out so back to the drawing board. Welded in some angle around the bottom and two cross braces. These were aluminum boxes, what seems like a good idea at the time is sometimes a lot of work in the long run. In the end it worked out fine other than the chains rusted up terrible, had to pull them out every year and spray rust inhibitor on them. Had drain holes drilled and still did it. It was handy in a way, I bought a new trailer this year and will be hanging them up in the bang board.
