Love the look of that flattop Western. It doesn't have that pregnant mare look like the raised roof models do.

Keeping chains and binders in buckets or crates gets old pretty fast especially if it's pouring rain and you are wasting time untangling chains and trying to determine which chain is which because the hooks are like a barrel of monkeys sometimes.

Not to mention that they get pretty heavy when they are piled in one spot and you have to yank it out of a side box which no doubt has other stuff packed in there to make it difficult.

Plus.....keeping piled them in a bucket or crate has a tumbler effect on them mile after mile from road vibrations and wears the zinc coating off them in no time. Soon after, you find piles of rust dust in the bottom of the bucket or bottom of side box if you use a crate.

    SHC Thanks this.

And here I am trying to figure out how to get more storage space. Between 7 tarps, 40 ft straps, 30 ft straps, clevises, machine hooks, half inch chain, 3/8 chain, binders, dunnage, mechanics tools, power tools, BFHs, padding, lawn chair, grill...etc...

i don't know where I would put all of the stuff without that headache rack.

Which ones? Some shippers do, but there is no law requiring one that I know of.

    SHC and MJ1657 Thank this.

I'm thinking the same thing. Which ones?

And what do you expect that "rack" to do? They are designed to store equipment; and offer a MINIMAL level of resistance to forward shifting freight. They are NOT designed to offer protection in a catastrophic event.

here are some pictures of my freight liner flat top with a headache rack

as you can see the headache rack does not extend above the roof line and with the exhaust behind the sleeper it moves the headach rack out to even with the rear of the fairings. if at some point i have a reason to re-do the exhaust i do want to put dual stacks on the sides so i can move the headache rack in some
