Challenger Motor Freight?

Bison is 33 for 6 months, then 36 for the following 6 and then 39 for the 2nd year. TransX idk, but I would assume 36 for a single or 55 cents split for training team. So 37cents, no slip seat, assigned truck, plus event pay, you can do well. Just be efficient with your time, and get into the LTL/Multi Drop stuff, that's how I made my $$$ at mega's.

 

Your age is the obstacle. Challenger seems like your best bet. Dont run team. Make your own mistakes and learn from those

 

Always glad to help, enjoy challenger, but whatever you do, DO NOT QUIT before 2 years; trust me you will be in a worse position that you are right now. Never run team, don't take it personally, and just enjoy trucking! Once I realized I was Captain of my own ship, and stopped listening to dispatch's BS, haven't had a bad day in trucking since.

 

The nice thing about Challenger is they have many devisions within the company that you can move around in. 1 company can get you many different experiences. Like if your interested in flatbed work they have that, you can use that as the stepping stone to get into their heavy haul freight (more $$)..

They also have the bulk / waste hauling division, we have guys at my work that come in to pick up organics and sometimes garbage (from a Verspeeten sub-contract) they seem happy. I have seen some of the same guys for at least 5+ years or more. So that must say something at least.

Also check out Verspeeten, if you haven't already take the Challenger offer. Verspeeten is the City Of Toronto's garbage hauler and I talk to the guys when they come to my work. They make $25/hr or somewhere in the range. Unionized for the garbage haulers, not sure about the rest of divisions within the company (like auto industry transport)

Exploiting the labour surplus, and this ridiculous "2 years exp required" trend that is the norm now. If you think that's bad, I've heard that some of the other places, that will take "new drivers" are down to 0.25-0.29cpm. But I mean, its coming down to that, or no job for a lot of folks. Glad I jumped to trucking when I did, because i'm pretty sure I couldn't get a job doing anything I've been doing for the last 16 years now. More and more I have friends and family (some who hated on me for doing trucking even) asking me how to get into trucking; due to no jobs/layoffs.
