Basically what I speak of is the state DMV actually doing the testing, not an employer who has "someone" certified to do so. As of at least today, I am not aware of an employer doing any CDL testing. This may have been true back in your day? I think (as an example) When someone went to the Swift driving school (which was subsequently shut down), they Swift, had a DMV employee on site to do the testing. But then if IRCC, Swift was paying off that guy to pass people? This is what led to many CDL's being recalled, revoked, and the Swift school shut down.
If my memory is cloudy on this, someone please say so that it can be said correctly over what I have just said?
Thanks -
Wow, thank you all very much for your responses. I'll keep in mind what you all said for sure.
My social life isn't that big of a deal, sometimes all it does is stress me out. I would much rather have a full time job with a good income, that will give me a sense of independence. Almost all of my friends are stuck in school and not sure at all as to what they want to do. So at this point, I would rather make new friends who I am more similar to.
The community college has a session that starts in April, but I've heard that they don't have many connections. I'm also looking into American Truck School in Redding, California, which I've heard good things about, that it is more in the thick of the industry. I do not have the cash to pay upfront for any of these programs, so I am dependent on what help I can get from the government and if I have to take out some kind of loan, I would be open to that.
Question about my driving record - my California Class C license is valid and in good record - no convictions, no failures to appear, no accidents in California, but the license I had in the state I lived in before has been cancelled - will that be a problem?Chinatown Thanks this. -

Thanks again guys for your help. I should have my CDL in June, from the local CC.
Chinatown, I will definitely start calling those companies, thanks a lot for putting that list together.
S M D, I was thinking along those lines, save up for a while and buy my own truck. That is one of the bad things I heard about CR England and some of the other paid training programs, that they try to push you into leasing a truck from them. It'll be interesting to see how much I can make starting off and how I can manage it. -
