It's something to look back five years, I bet. Just looking back a year ago, I can't believe how F'n stupid I was. Makes me wonder just how F'n stupid I still am!!!

I'd like to shout out to everyone, but there's no way I can without forgetting someone. I will say I follow @D.Tibbitt pretty closely. There was a time when he was getting out, and for some reason I can't explain, it depressed me so much I just about hung it up. Now he's going to do his own thing, and I for one, can't wait to see it evolve.

If I could change one thing about this site, it would be for all of you to post more often!! IDGAF if you got to start your own journal on this site. You're all interesting, and truckers are the oil that drives the machine that is America. I'm finally part of it, and I couldn't be more proud.

He's still wet behind the ears. But lucky enough. To have a good looking wife. :)

If we have another crash year like we did in 2009, and he doesn’t come out on the other side, it’ll be because he didn’t want to not because he couldn’t. He’s s leg up on most!

You want to talk about the glue that holds it all together? Back in the day, I owned a framing company. I was too young and dumb to make it work, so I let everyone go, and "hired" my wife. Now back then, she didn't know the difference between a 2x4 and a 2x6. Meanwhile, I literally grew up on the jobsite. I mean, we actually lived on the jobsite in a travel trailer when I was growing up. I started making a dollar a day back when I was six years old. Building houses is in my blood.

So I had her as the sawman. Sorry to misogynistic, but a woman's wrist isn't cut out to handle the power of a modern skill saw. So I bought her a chop saw. She soon was cutting compound miters while I'm up there cutting in a roof. I would be decking a roof, and she'd load the plywood jack, and after that, she'd carry OSB around the house in a circuit, just to make herself stronger. She's a tough, territorial woman, and she's always had my back.

Back when we first met, we were poor. My work ethic still wasn't established as much as I'd like. I was a hard worker, but had a hard time "actually showing up to work..." Because of me, we stayed poor. There was a time when we would dig through the ashtray of my Bronco, looking for cigarettes that still had tobacco so we could smoke them, while we were racking up NSF fees at the bank. That doubly showed how irresponsible we were, because we weren't making bills, but we always seemed to have money for beer and cigarettes.....But she stayed with me. The amount of time she's waited in a pickup while I finished the day. She had our first kid, and literally took me to work the next morning. The patience, the understanding, and I can't even list her qualities, because the required bandwidth for the post would crash the entire Internet.

I named my trucking company after her. It was the least I could do.

crazy how trucking works man. last year was an incredible year of growth for me . early in the year i just had this nagging suspision to get out of the industry because i felt that weird feeling, that something bad was going to happen... long story short i grew up so much in this past year then i did in my previous 26 years of life... that bad thing that was going to happen was me rolling the rig at the quarry.. but that accident opened my eyes to life and what i want to do... and its been the motivator for me going out on my own and to do things the way i want to do them.. i worked my ### off and surpassed every goal i set for myself last year, by july... i love trucking, just the circumstances i was choosing to be in was making me hate it and made me wanna get away from it, which i think happens to alot of guys.... think ill be better off on my own , mentally at least..... now the whole process of getting my authority and going on the road on my own is quite frustrating with all the hoops you have to jump thru. but im almost done. working on my decals right now, gonna put them on the truck tmrw. thats probably when it will sink in that im doing something ive wanted to do since i was a little kid.... then once I finally get out on the road, im sure my engine will grenade itself on the first load... because you know, thats trucking! :biggrin_25523:
