I see fat ##### all the time waddling around truck stop parking lots with swollen ankles holding a keg of soda in their hand. There's no way that they passed the DOT physical. I want to get my physical from their dr.

I'm beginning to wonder if I could make as much money driving an Uber/Enterprise rental car in Phoenix versus conforming to all the rules a CDL driver has to put up with?

The only thing Uber seems to want is a valid drivers license and the only thing Enterprise seems to care about is a credit debit card to charge on.

These BMI charts are bullbleep! My daughter's school sent home a letter stating that according to the BMI chart she was overweight.

At the time she was a 3 sport athlete, soccer, basketball and lacrosse, along with being a lifeguard for the state, full time in the summer and part time at the Y year round. Plus during the time between sports, around a month or so and in the summer, she would go to the Y to work out to stay in shape almost everyday.

Her doctor laughed at the letter. At the time she was 5'6" tall and weighed about 160 and had a 27 inch waist. Needless to say she was quite offended but the school nurse said she is just following the regulations when questioned by my wife.

The government creates these charts and then pigionholes everyone to fit. Fat or muscular doesn't matter.

There is a chiropractor near where I live that has two big signs out, advertising that he/she/it, (never seen this one, so could be any of the above,) gives dot physicals! I thought you had to be either an MD, Or a MD's PA to give these!
If you really have SA,(I do, and have for many years,) then you do need to take some steps to keep healthy. I've been on CPAP since 2001, and I'm not being a drama queen when I say I would not have survived this long without it. I'm on my third CPAP, and very satisfied. OTOH, there's something on the market that is a simple mouth piece, that prevents the airway from closing. Personally, I think using a mask would be much more comfortable.
Just as an aside here, when I retired I gave up my CDL when my medical ran out. Ever since then, I get a notice every year from the 'crats in Salt Lake City, requiring that I get a yearly physical, to keep my class C drivers license!
I called the DMV and got this snotty bitvh on the phone that informed me that since I went from a class A to a class C for "medical" reasons, that I'll have to do this from now on, or my license will be suspended or revoked.

I know how to drive tired. I run 9 days at a time including nights before sleep way back when, as a young man. Logs? Ha. Fiction.

    Now?

I treat driving tired as same as driving drunk. Sleep has nothing to do with it. Stress does. There were days wife and I recognize that we both are over tired in the afternoon and it's time to go home and finish up another day. That way we don't expose ourselves to a wreck or something stupid. Sitting in them VA wood chairs for 8 hours at a time... sheesh...

Maybe it's a combination of sleep and stress but I think sleep is probably the bigger point. If your not sleeping good, It can cause more stress. Like how do people know if they are going into REM sleep ? If you have sleep apnea you eyes are closed but you brain is running a marathon all night try to keep you alive. So you never get REM sleep. Once someone has a CPAP machine your brain can relax and go into REM sleep. The CPAP machine shows your events per hour so you can see for yourself if it work. Unless you get a not so good CPAP machine that does not show the data. You can see the data yourself that the machine does help.

I know what and how CPAP Machines work, I fought off doctors some years ago focusing on other systems in the body. There is only so much money to go around feeding these parasites.

CPAP is one thing I will never use. if I die, I die. I had a good run. I don't have any motivation to eke out another 20 years with CPAP rash or something.

    Sarcasm? WHAT sarcasm?
We also didn't even have seat belts, let alone wear them. Hard hat? What the hell is that?
Reflective vests when working around traffic? Nah, that's for the wusses...
