And that may be the answer, as I only deal with Company trucks where multiple drivers may use the truck. Since you are an IC, there really is no reason for it, since no one else will be logging into your unit.

I strongly suspect that some savvy driver will figure a way around this...

If the QC actually loses power, say for instance it gets turned off or literally dies, is the truck itself capable of sending or processing that info on its own?

I also suspect that they can't/won't remove the 5 minute threshold. That is to say that even if your wheels move, they must move for 5 minutes consistently in order for it to count.

Reason for this will be that WILL affect sni's bottom line drastically. How many of us have to hook to a trailer while taking our 10? Probably quite a few people. If they change it so you are logged exactly as you're doing it, then we will get hit and have to take a second 10. That means we may not be able to make a drop.

While yes, it hinders how much we can make, they aren't going to shoot themselves in the foot regardless of who is demanding the change.

That is the point I have been trying to make. I have heard nothing about the 5 minute threshold being removed. If that is the case, it doesn't really affect anyone and all this hub bub is for nothing.

The only way that black box looses power is when the back up battery inside, dies. You can remove the outside power, but it does nothing but turn off your display unit.

From the pdf on crossroads it seems like it will log to the minute, Every time you start to move it will log as drivng.

Think about all the violations we're going to have. Pull into the truck stop with 30 minutes left on the 11 but more than an hour on the e 14, creep along finding a spot, wait for a coupke of guys to back in then the only one left is a real mother to get into. 5-10 GOALs later you're in the spot but have violated the 11 hour rule. Plenty of time on 14 and 70 though.

Is it any wonder that fatigue related accidents have started climbing again?

This will have a significant impact on my earnings. I'l be lucky to average 350 miles a day.

I found a flat tore during my post. It was at the end of my 14. I disconnected the trailer, to save my parking spot and took the tractor to the trucksto p and 3 hours later had a new tire. Then I hooked back up and got 7 hours sleep. There are so many situations that could require you to move that truck. What the he'll are you supposed to do if you HAVE to move the truck? Get a oos violation and then have to restart your 10? Not a chance in he'll will I operate under those rules. Enough is enough!
