Call a wrecker, every single #### time. Stick it to corporate until it hits their bottom line. There is common sense, and then there is ridiculousness. This line of debate is ridiculousness.

Unfortunately there comes a time when calling a wrecker costs you your bottom line. And calling the wrecker only "works" if you're not the one paying for it.

I'm a company driver. There are some things I'll fix or deal with myself because it'll take me half the time to do as opposed to sitting and waiting on a repairman (and sometimes even waiting on sem...).

Use 30 minutes to fix and roll, or two hours sitting and twiddling your thumbs.

it's one thing to have ample time to fix an issue yourself when there's plenty of time on the 14 to get to a safe place to park. It's an entirely different thing if you run into a situation where you have to move your truck 1000 feet after your 14 is up to satisfy a customer. If you're faced with a choice of moving 1000 feet to satisfy a customer vs. getting a preposterous log violation in the process, well then, call a wrecker

Well met. I assumed you meant break downs only.

It should be very interesting to see how this pans out...

Please point out on that PDF where it states anything about logging to the minute? Why do people insist on jumping to conclusions and making things up just to have something else to complain about? Nowhere I have read does it say that the 5 minute logging threshold will be removed. All it state is that when the wheels start moving, it will record drive time. The way it is now, you have to meet certain thresholds before it puts you on the drive line, but if you meet a threshold, but stop driving before 5 minutes, and shut off the truck, it will not record that time as drive time, as it only logs in 5 minute intervals......as soon as someone can show me anything that states that 5 minute threshold is being removed, you may have something to cling onto.....but I haven't seen anywhere that it is. Now, that isn't saying that isn't the case, but I can't find it in any of the communication, I will try to get clarification on that today.

Jake - in the first example it shows 4 minutes 'driving to the guard shack. That it what makes me believe we're going to be logging to the minute.

Add that to some conversations with RTAs since last summer and that's what makes me think the 5 minute threshold will disappear. I hope I'm wrong and you're right.

If that's the case ain't nobody gonna move from the fuel island! Those trucks will be in front of the pumps for firmly 30 + minutes.

If you're parked at a customer overnight and they want to have you back into a dock early..nope! can't move 50 feet!

As if we don't have enough crap to deal with and been over regulated to death already :biggrin_25513:
