I agree. But don't forget, we know. We drive and understand what needs to be done.
They sit at a desk, and speculate about what needs to be done.
That being said...I suspect this could be a good opportunity. This will hurt everyone's bottom line, not just ours or SNI.
I see this as a good chance to not insite a riot or a shutdown. But, if the rules were followed to a T, then we would eventually have the companies and the shippers in the same basket.

So everyone takes a loss except the DOT...yeah that'll show them.Pork Chop Express, Vilhiem and PoleCrusher Thank this.

The companies won't take a loss they'll use the foreign drivers to fill in the seats and cut back miles to keep us legal. The government will keep giving credit and subsidies to these companies for hiring foreigners on the work program.
Only one who will lose is the American Truck Driver thru reduced miles and fines.Pork Chop Express, PoleCrusher and Home_on_wheels Thank this. -
It's another regulation that has zero to do with safety and it's all about another violation to get in our pockets.

Officially, with the new change, if your wheels are moving, you will be logged on line 3 in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
That is the official answer and the only one you will get from corporate. Take it as you will.Vilhiem Thanks this. -
I'm glad i'm not OTR any more. all that time i spent laid over at a tank wash, the houston or reserve OC, with no car available and now being forced to starve or spend $25+ dollars for food delivery. no thanks.
Vilhiem Thanks this. -

Ah the good old log book.... Second most dangerous thing on my truck.
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
Eh. The idea is that shippers or companies will lose enough profit as a result of this ruling.
Which, and most of this is theoretical, everything I can think of to alleviate the issues that arise from this clarification will cost money to everyone.
The thought is that if it costs enough, eventually it's the shippers and companies that will step up and say something about it.
...you know. Since none of us want to do anything about it.
(Mostly sarcastic there...mostly.) -
The day this takes affect, I will go out to the yard and test some theories, I don't think anyone will know 100% the effects until the change actually happens. Until then we will all be stuck guessing.
PoleCrusher, Home_on_wheels, TennMan and 2 others Thank this.
