Put new fan belts when you are there. And remember that after you install a balancer you wont be able to replace your belts the way you've done before... Now when you replace fan belts you need to loose dampener bolts (not completely remove) to make room between that balancer ring and a front engine mounting bracket. I ran in that situation couple weeks ago when one of my fan belts broke. I thought it would be an easy thing to install new belts but there was no way to do it without loosening dampener bolts.

Thanks, Beltrans -- holy poop, how did I miss that -- I had been eyeing the clearance to the front mount bracket - so consumed with the hassles of breaking the bolts and logistics of installation - Now, I vote to forget the extra minor advantage of balancer - versus the advantage of quick roadside repair - A /C belt has twice taken the big belt - in 15 years - never been "stuck" for any period of time - those bolts are a pain - thanks for the wake-up

Swap directions with your front engine mount bolts while you got your dampener off to gain clearance for future belt installations, at least you won't need mounts as often as belts.

BeenJammin - clever - I just checked - it will work on the left side - sadly the right hand side bolt is so close to bottom dead center of damper it still looks too tight - we'll see -- Thanks
