Ohhh I don't know maybe to see the country while collecting a decent paycheck, or to get away from office politics, or to get away from childish behavior in the classroom (of course she may hear similar chatter on the CB but at least she can turn that off. Not like duct taping the mouths of teenagers or is that legal in CA?).

Besides lurchgs your too old for her! lmao

    LOL

let's see.. Decent paycheck? who are you trying to kid? Not if you are sight seeing, I betcha! Well, maybe if you count back end of nowhere loading docks as 'sights'! :)

Office politics - true - but she's exchanging that for OTHER office politics )working with your dispatcher, the safety department... (

Childish behaviour. Yeah. turn the CB off (good idea, mostly), Stay away from some of the posters here, stay away from truck stops.. :)

(no, I'm not pointing fingers with the above - but we both know they exist here)

CA outlawed duct tape because it was too easy to accidentally cover the nose as well, thus smothering the little bas*****. Epoxy Glue is the approved method. Problem is, it's NOT approved for use on anybody making a political statement. Makes it useless.

And you are NEVER too old with viagra and a beard!

I am still working on the sleep thing lol, its hard but I find I am a night person, my hubby is most definatly a day person. He can drive longer then I can, don't know why but my longest driving period is like 8 hours max before I need a nap. I prefer 6 hour stints, as it doesn't wear me out utterly. I've tried everything I can think of and pills just dont work (nor does that 5 hour/6 hour energy crap).

I am good for nights, my hubby is good for days. Soon as the sun is up he's ready to go, which is weird, I think he is part plant. We find I am good for that 12am-8am stint cause once its 12 am regardless of when he woke up he's done, he cannot get over the 12-4 am hump even if he wakes up an hour before we tried swapping me to days once and he just couldn't get over that hump.

Nice to see you took my comments in jest (as they were intended)Lurchgs. I have noticed some tend to be overly sensitive about certain things (age being 1).

I am surprised you have such an understanding of trucking for a relative newbie. Well some are quick studies so it's all good.

As for that Viagra I may have to try that. I have been using Polish Viagra for a while now (popsickle sticks and duct tape) myself! Gets kinda sore taking the duct tape off afterwards though! J/K

As for that all nighter stuff, nope, not me, can't (won't) do it. I can go from 7 or 8 in the morning until around Midnight or 1 o' clock but then I have to strap on that Darth Vader mask and get some zzz's. Of course that means we are only putting in 16 to 18 hours per day as a team but it is enough for us and we get to sleep at the same time.

If you can find a partner with an opposite predilection on the sleep then you may just have a winning combination for team driving (provided you trust the other person with your life that is). Sounds like IROCUBABE got a winning combo. Congrats.

True - and I don't know why. I am my age, even though I rarely act it. Now, if somebody gets a'hollerin' purely because of an age, I get grumpy. I might even say a few words. I've never seen an instance where age is the primary issue.

Yes, it can be a contributing factor - but any blanket statement (like this one isn't?) really needs to be checked at the door. Just because an individual is X years old doesn't qualify or disqualify him for any darn thing.

oops. <kicking soapbox back under the desk> digressed a bit there, didn't I?

heh - not a relative newbie. more like an absolutenewbie. Fresh out of school and still jobless.

But I pay attention (usually) to what is said by the experts. At the moment, that's anybody with more than a year behind the wheel. I measure and merge and try to arrive at a consensus of what everybody has said.

Makes me sound like I know what I'm doing - which is a great ego trip! :)

Don't use duct tape - there's actually a bit of an acid in the stickie stuff. I suggest surgical tape - preferably the kind that has no latex in the stickum.

aah - the infamous Darth Vader mask. Love mine. Drives the wife nuts when it makes those interesting noises in the middle of the night.

For me, doesn't much matter how tired I am during the day - when the sun goes down, I perk up. I typically get up at about 06:30 (gotta take the monsters to school) and feel .. well, ok all day. Then, at about 19:00, I start functioning like a human - and finally go to bed at about 02:00.

It does, indeed. Love it when a plan comes together. IROCUBABE's got it goin'!

For me, I'm not much interested in team sports. More interested in spending a LITTLE time on the front porch at home. Not gonna rule it out, though. If I 1) ever get a job, and if 2) it's OTR, and 3) find somebody I can stand to be with 24/7 (or, less likely, who can stand ME 24/7), I'll give it a shot.

I was having a real doozie of a day and needed a laugh...... thanks boys! :biggrin_25514:

Money? Hmmmmmm....... how to address that one........ let's say I don't have expensive taste....... farmers daughter thing I guess..... I don't live my life for money.... never have and never will.

    Complete expenses for me?
Monthly: House payment (PITI), Electric/Gas, Water, Cable/Internet, Car Insurance, Cell Phone (no house phone), Life Insurance, Retirement Account, and deposits into "Christmas Account," "Daughters College Account" and "Summer Account"................ no credit card balances, no car payments.

Daily Expenses: Gasoline, Food, Toiletries, Clothes (Levi's Jeans), shirts/blouses, Shoes (Sandles or DC/Osaris/Globe Shoes),

"Extras": Gardener, Groomer (have a ####er, hate to brush, shave it like a beagle), Nails ($15 twice a month), daughters allowance (still in high school), entertainment (most of what I prefer is free :biggrin_25525:).

I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I wasn't dealing with issues. It is what I do. Maybe it is me but we make jokes in my family that I can't even go to the grocery store without something happening.......... you have no idea......I got accustomed to it so long ago that it doesn't even phase me.............. my friends and family actually compare stories of their time with me......... I am a walking magnet for bizarre behavior.

Guess that's why it doesn't faze me to teach students who are schizophrenic, bipolar, and oppositional defiant? At least they pay me to deal with these guys....... all the other stuff I deal with every day is on my dime......:biggrin_2559:
Sorry, you are way too late on that one............ about 27 years...... already have the CB........ went without it for a few years but I missed the chatter.......... got my first one when I was a waitress as Scotsman's (yep.... I was 17....)......... see what a bad influence you guys are? :biggrin_25524:

As for why I still chat....... I have always chosen to work in outlying small communities (low socioeconomic minority etc...) so I drive at least 2 hours a day on Hwy 99..... I get bored........ you guys get bored......... and you guys GET LOST! It is a lot better now with GPS but I still answer direction questions almost daily.....Walmart directions are my number one request... go figure ...... (in the winter fog I pretty much guide all morning...... it usually starts with "I am at..... where the **** is Flying J?")

I am so much more creative than that.......... you have no idea......:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2551::yes2557:
Sorry........ but if you need viagra I would probably be .......hmmmmmm... nope, definitely be........ the last thing you saw in this life........ :biggrin_25525:

hay, that's what I do. Maybe I should have gone to Clown College instead of CDL school.

Not bad list. Not far off from mine. My nails are $20,though. They gotta pay for the band-saw they use to cut 'em.

Fortunately, I don't have to pay for my internet at home.

I don't much have to deal with strange behaviour -=- other than my own. At 6'6" and 325 lbs, most .. um... disturbed people decide that they should be less disturbed, or be disturbed somewhere else.

The problem is, they don't pay you ENOUGH to deal with students like that. My father teaches at a college in Illinois - he gets to see those students too. And some of the faculty is like that, as well.

It's always easiest to corrupt the young.

Lol - yeah. I spent a few years with a search and rescue group. One of the things we did was patrol I-70 east of Denver when the state shut it down for weather. We had to have CBs in our vehicles, in addition to our VHF and UHF radios - some of the calls we got from truckers were.. fun.

Like.. "I'm in the middle of this here field - how do I get back to the highway"?
hay - that was just legal minimums. I know that any successful teacher has a whole file cabinet full of dirty tricks. Now, with the internet, the file is almost infinite.

Ahhh but what a way to go!

Me, I'm figgering to be 127 when I die, shot by a jealous husband

    ROFLMAO :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

Spend too much time with many people in this world and scary things start showing up!

Yep. Always your fault. You know that right? It is always the man's fault......:yes2557::biggrin_25525::biggrin_2559:

"There is this little bridge over a field canal and a bunch of trees on my right, I think they might be almonds, oh and on the other side is alfalfa I think...... do you know how far I am from Kindig farms?"
