    The Channel 9 mandate is just another Federal rule that has long outlived any usefulness and has been allowed to rot on the vine to give us something to talk about.

    It was never really "enforced"...was just the go-to channel for 911 calls...React and Police probably quit monitoring channel 9 back in the late 80's...thats about the time CB's started to be less popular and Cell phones were starting to pop-up...I'm sure in parts of the Country there were people still monitoring channel 9 up in the 2000's, but those people were few and far between
