And thats the WAY IT WORKS...

We aren't SAMS DISCOUNT CLUB - we ARE IN BUSINESS. We don't negotiate ourselves DOWN.

    Not NOW.

    NOT EVER...

No clue who I was talking to, I do that with ALL brokers... If they budge on price, great, if they don't budge, I hang up and call the next broker. You just gotta put on your poker face, and stick to your guns... you gotta be willing to turn that load down if they don't put a dollar figure in your price range. Last week, I got a load for $800 above asking price, $600 above asking price, and $500 above asking price.....

I'm in a different position than a lot of drivers here though... I pull 100% off loadboards... I have no place in particular to be, and I let the brokers know this... I'll tell them flat out, I don't NEED to go to Michigan, if I don't book this load with you, I'll go to Texas, or Montana, its no sweat off my back if I don't get this particular load.

Huh? I get $4-5 / mile all day every day to go from MD to the northeast - ME, MA, CT - cuz it's almost impossible to find a rate coming out.

Great feedback. I think our problem is there are so many carriers in CA that have the mindset (or business strategy) to take a good rate to anywhere from here and just haul for fuel+ to get back here. All the brokers know if and their mind is set that if one doesn't take it, another one will. They just need to negotiate in Spanish.

GWTS was it's usual small show. Fun chatting with Bruce again from Pittsburgh Power though. If money were no object and fuel mileage didn't matter... oh well, nice to bench race. One of these days I'll have one of his 600 hp 2WS Cats in a 379 and the only thing I'll care about hauling is #####.

That's just BS. I had guys like this. No more. If they don't go where I need them to go, they can go work for Swift.
