Here's another thought:
A lot are expecting the "cheap haulers" to run out business to lower truck capacity.
But what about the guys who are coming in the industry because they figure equipment is being sold for cheap and fuel is cheap? To them 1.49 May be the norm.
Market itself needs to pick up in all aspects which due to a lot of things going in will take a long time. Those in a good position such as big brokers are milking the market. Megas are competing against small carriers? Why? Cause a broker takes over their biggest account for cheaper and smaller carriers take it to get by.
Until market picks up for trucks to be in high demand again it's survival for most guys especially the ones that depend on waking up and using a load board to make their money.ChromeNut and Straight Stacks Thank this. -

And then........ when the e-log mandate gets closer all hell is going to break out for the small guys... Mega's gotta be licking their chops..

I believe it's a matter of time before more trucks are up for sale or auction. Yes fuel is cheap, but everything else remains the same. My piggy bank is fat from the holidays and I'm glad I did some running.
I made sure to put myself into position to get some of the good $ broker loads. My girlfriend isn't a huge fan of it since projects on the house came to a hault, but pulling in a few extra grand has been nice.
I was lucky to have a broker be honest with me the other day. Drivers are accepting some of the loads at huge price decrease and if I get them at the old price, he'll lose the lane. That's fair to me, let them run for under 1/mile and wait for that HUGE repair bill when something breaks.
I am glad that my cost of living is cheap, everything paid for, and I ran when the going was good.Terry270, blairandgretchen and SheepDog Thank this. -
