Some trucks headlights won't turn off while the brake is released. The 09 prostar I drive is a prime example. I hate the few times I go into a truckstop and can't turn my headlights off. After 12 years of driving and being around trucks since I was conceived I hope I'm not too much of a rookie anymore.

When sliding tandems on a trailer with a air release valve on trailer make sure you have set the trailer brakes set or the valve wont stay open. Seen this a couple times. Kinda funny for a second.

Make sure trailer doors are secured when backing to a dock. Most the times door hinges are aluminum and if the door swings and hits the dock while backing you WILL break them and the door off.

Also make sure (if you are just picking it up that you air up the trailer tanks first :)

great advice but the prostar im in the lights will not turn all the way off if your driving. i have a switch to flash them off and on to let someone know they can come on over but in scales and truckstops the headlights wont turn all the way off unitl the airbreaks are applied. drives me nuts

For the first poster, restarting your transaction to break it up to get more showers is difficult with EFS. If I want to do that, I stop more often and put in less, not keeping it full.

I generally fuel as infrequently as possible because I'm mostly regional, and home enough that I don't use all of the showers anyway.

Ensure that your king pin handle hasn't been pulled out after you've been stopped for awhile. - I've seen what happens.

If your tandem pin puller thing (SHUT UP...don't know the proper term...LOL) won't stay out, pull it out and then clamp vise grips on it....this will hold it out while you slide the tandems.
