no it shouldn't be. if it's open book then it isn't a TEST. it's nothing more than a demonstration of your ability to read.

you're supposed to know this stuff. it is a test of your knowledge. if you didn't/don't pass, then you don't know what you need to know and shouldn't pass

Yup. If someone lacks the focus to sit down and study for a few hours...they don't need to be operating a CMV.

I read the CDL book from DMV and took the practice tests here. Once I stared to ace all the practice tests, I went to DMV and took the test on the computer. It was NOT open book. I only got 1 or two wrong. The practice tests here were almost exactly like the real test. They sometimes asked the question in a different way but if you studied and remembered the practice tests, it was quite easy....

I have taken the test . the practice tests that are online all over simply are almost useless . I have tried many of them and even the paid ones and even the paid ones off of our dept of revenue cdl site . No where near enough info to pass a test . this is why I post this . A good quick study guide that has actual questions from the test is needed . I know these questions are on the test . How ever it certainly is not all of the 140 questions . So add to it and make it better . It will help others .
Also here at least there are 3 different tests . If you fail you take a different one .

there is something odd about the computer test here . I can never pass it and I talk to others that say the same thing but we all pas the written test . Most likely bad software design I guess. I will see if I can copy the 100 questions I paid for off of the dept of revenue websites link . If I can I will post them . you would think if any practice tests were going to help you it would be the ones recommended by them on their site .
yet again I encourage people to add their known questions to the list as a study aid for others .

Anyway this is what the dmv sold me . Not bad but lacks many questions that are actually on test and has stuff about buses which should not even be on this test .
The questions about road signs actually do have the pic of sign on them they just did not copy off to here . there are also different signs in the test and I know we have around 70 I think it was listed in the manual for class C and the one I got on my last test I had never seen in my life and had no idea what it was.

Making something like this is a good study guide. Practice the tests on TTR, too.

When studying for any test : Do not open your book or read on your subject the day you are to take your test, you can read as much as you like the evening before, that will stay in your memory, but you read anything right before a test and you start to doubt your self and more then likely fail the test!!!
