There was another post that mentioned some trucking alliance between some of the big companies --so i goggled it when i saw what they were pushing --i said the same thing.
What seems irrational to me, us -is all about money.
The big company owners surround themselves with the rich and powerful and number manipulators and it no longer has anything to do with their roots (Trucking) it has to do with money.
There is an angle involved here that i will not understand till one of them explains it to me.
I guarantee the big powerful companies wanted to change the HOS they could --somehow they make money from it.
Do you see any articles about the mega's fighting the HOS --probably more the O/O's allies or groups -like i said i am not smart enough to figure it out but there is probably a money trail.

The circadian cycle is important. Myself for instance, 20 plus years I got up at 5 in the morning no matter what. As a paramedic, I spent many nights up and got only an hour or so of sleep. Never could sleep during the day because it was work time.
Truth is, I can go to bed at 2 in the morning and pop awake at 5. No sleep after that, till the next night at 11. -
The circadian thing isn't so much for me, I like to be sleeping when the sun rises, but it's not especially important that I do. There are medical conditions that make it less important for some than others.
I hauled chickens, loading last, usually after sitting and moving several times, and it was tough getting past the predawn downturn, but I learned to do it. Even though I did a good job getting them back alive, the paranoids in charge had fits about their chickens sitting anywhere but in the shed or barn back in the yard. Even bad weather or mechanical problems were enough to get them upset.baha Thanks this. -
As long as their are rules. There will be cry babies. Please show me the rule that says you have flexibility in Hours of Service. Rather before the 14 hr clock Or back when it was Drive 10 sleep 8. It was always log it as you do it, but since it wasn't enforced. We logged it as we wanted. Even on E logs I can't edit the drive time, but I can edit everything else. There were people sleeping at gates b4 the 14 hr clock. B4 E logs, and there will be people sleeping at the gate even if they do away with the 14 hr clock. All the crying about the rules on these threads are not going to change them. You need to talk to them super truckers who can make money on E logs. Seems the only people complaining are the ones who like to drive around every truck stop, and flirt with the cashiers with 10 people in line. HMMMM go figure somebody pays you to do a job and expects you actually to work. Reminds me of the guy who posted earlier asking about going to movies and restaurants.
Just a few days ago I was taking a restart. My dispatcher sent a message asking was I ok. Guess because I wasn't moving. Told him I was taking a restart. Yes it was going to cut my window for On time deliver super close, but I hate recap hours and before I decided to do it. I didn't have a load yet. I got a load and it was a short one and I had enough hours coming off recap to get it there. I still went ahead and did the restart and I forgot about the 30 min rule when I was trip planning so It really cut my time down, but I still made it even though I had to cut some time in my pre trip and post trip to do so. Still got there 15 minutes early. Then I asked them if I could drop next load at the yard, and keep moving over the holiday. I was expecting a no, but they said yes and I got a 1400 mile load that picks up tmrw that delivers friday. Wouldn't have been able to do that if didn't take my restart. Trucking is a lifestyle. Learn how to live it, and these folks and their crazy rules will only make you making money more exciting. Till next time we beakkkk quiet. -
We all need to stop painting with such broad strokes things like
never seem to help an argument, just like things like
while they may be observations, are not valid arguments either because you're just ignoring the multitudes of others non Elog companies that do that same thing.
Neither of these are valid arguments. As drivers, and citizens, you should be more concerned with whether or not the government actually has the power to make eLogs a regulation and force everyone onto them. I think that it is not something they should be able to do. This is an issue that truckers should be watching closely and take action by making your voice heard when the proposals get announced. I've been awfully lax in following proposed regulation changes for the last year and half, but this is something that we need to keep our eyes on, for several reasons. Don't let this pass like the hours of service changes did. I would 95% or greater were merely spectators and watched the changes come. A handful of groups tried to stop the changes, but if we all spoke up it might have made a difference. -
I'd say more drivers are now cheating on ELDs (electronic logging devices) than paper only because I'm assuming there are more drivers using ELDs than paper.
-
In my opinion, a driver with ELD's is forced to try and cheat, with Paper Logs,,,,you just can. In General anyway...
-
I would never change to EOBR.
i hauled cattle to long. I know when I'm tired not Obama he doesn't know Jack #### about me.
My zippo doesn't need to be refilled as much as it did when I hauled cattle I will say that..
^if you don't get the reference you've never had anything but EOBRSheepDog Thanks this. -
Why don't you google how many truckers are in jail because they had a fatality accident and they weren't suposed to be there due to hos.Are you the one paying the fine if DOT comes in and does an audit of your company?Try getting a load from some carriers with an unsatisfactory safety rating.Log book's are a pain. It is just my opinion that only an idiot goes on the internet or sit's around a truck stop braging about running 2 or 3 log's.That is exactly
why they want everone on eobr'sDirkSteel Thanks this. -
Drivers should form an alliance and lobby congress and commit to a rolling strike if necessary! The rules ARE aimed at the LCD. What shiuld WE lobby FOR????? 1. The HUMAN RIGHT to drive to a place with facilities at the endmof a work day. An easy way to accomplish that is to have an EMERGENCY RESERVE of hours every month (say 20?) that can only be used to finish loading or whatever to get to a safe haven or to drive HOME. Also...a 30 minute break should not have a time limit but just be within your 14 hr. Shift...the 168 hr. Munimum fir restarts should be repealed (that is currently a bill in the House)...and trainers shiukd NEVER be allowed to log sleeper berth with students...EVER...theyre NOT a team...theyre trainer trucks. Those are MY ideas! Lets all get together and act like the Americans we are supposed to be!
