Your thing say's 30 years driving. So I think you would have been around the block a time or two and can figure out those places which are known to fill up, and those that always have parking. As a truck driver you master your body clock. You don't allow your body clock to master you. Yes there are periods you may need to take a 2 hr nap, and then you are refreshed and ready to continue your job. After 10 or so hours of driving you are normally tired. I don't care what time it is on your so called body clock. When the alarm clock rings and its time to go to work. You get your candy tail up to work. It's how everybody else does it. I guess.

I guess some of these folks have not had to deal with the more challenging aspects of military service. "But wait, I can't check out that tunnel because of my body clock." Or "Sorry, Sergeant, but I can't help you take that hill because I my body clock says I am tired". "I am too tired to disable that mine." I have never seen such crying and whining about having to do a job. You plan for the unexpected as best you can, stop when you need to, and you do what you need to do to maintain safety for everyone around you, not just for the FMCSA. No one "needs" to cheat on anything if they know what they are doing. You stop when you need to take a nap or a break, and balance that with moving when you can. If you feel you have to cheat on a log, then find another job, because that one is trying to get you or someone else killed. Show some spine and quit acting like adolescents. I am truly amazed how some so-called grown adults will allow a dispatch or a customer dictate their lives. If it is that big of a deal and you can't stand up for yourself, then find another job that you can.

People that don't drive don't need to park. That being said, a little bit of violation to find a safe parking location is not the end of the world unless you do that every day. Then you might need to look in the mirror and figure out what the issue is.

Trip planning has been used as a cure all for every hos change since the original. If parking is so easy to find why are there trucks parked on the ramps, entrances to rest area's ect.

there have been times over the years that particular pages of the loose leaf logs that i utilize to run in a legal manner become illegible and/or smudged or other, at which point they are simply redone. That illegible/smudged or other page is then reduced in size, stuffed into a disposable item, and then simply disposed of.

That new page matches all my fuel stops, toll booths,shipper/consignees and the respective times spent at each, and inclusive of off duty, sleeper berth, driving, and on duty times. There may have been times when my recall is not as exact as it should be but overall my logs are legal. having used them for a very long time, the only times that i have ever been placed out of service is when i was lazy and didn't have them up to date or as current as the officer desired them to be at that particular time.I have had an OOS or five due to equipment violations which had nothing to do with running paper logs.

What is there to not like about loose leaf paper logs or the difficulty in using them? why would one automatically assume that those of us that use them are cheating with them? I must add that in my experience using paper log books,a completely different HOS recorder, things never were quite as smooth and to re-do them after a smudge or other seemed to always present headaches. the issue with paper log books seemed to always be those darn staples and after a few times of opening the bend in the staples to remove/replace pages, those staples broke and became useless. paper log books are not user friendly so accuracy is imperative from the onset to prevent smudges/illegibility.

that fact has perplexed me for decades.
