I'd be happy as a clam to run 100% legal on e-logs if I was actually paid for all the work I did, as we rightfully should be anyway.

Pre/Post Trip - 30 to 60 minutes a day (I'd actually do a 30 min pre trip and 15 min post; not checking air lines, tread, tire pressure, fluids, etc for a truck that is going to stay parked... brakes are the main thing there)
    Reefer/Tire Check - 5 - 10 minutes per stop
    (Un)Loading - 30-60 mins (more time for driver (un)load) unless it's a drop & hook, 15 mins for those
    Fueling - 5-15 minutes
Weigh stations - 5 - 60+ minutes depending on whether you're showing permits, getting inspected, etc
Urine Analysis - 30 - 60 minutes (clock starts from the time the left door opens until the paperwork is signed)
Breakdowns - all bets are off... clocking time for inspecting, setting out hazard triangles, dealing w/ tow truck/mechanics, etc

Cabbies get paid by the mile, with metered time for stops... sad that we don't. It'd remove a lot of incentive to cheat on logs if on-duty time meant "paid time".

Time suppose to start minute you get to shipper or receiver til the time you actually leave, unless you are specifically relieved of duty while being loaded and or unloaded and I only know of a few places that require a driver to be in a break room while being loaded and or unloaded. So just by your statement you cheat on your books lol.....

    where are my boots?

cheating? driving when i am rested and sleeping when i am tired is cheating? or common sense?

telling a grown man that he has to sleep 10hrs a day is cheating, using your authority to control other people is cheating, having barney be more concerned over a book than the person is cheating

as the first guy said, those who blindly follow laws JUST because they are laws have lost a bit of testosterone (in my book)

if you MUST drive 1000 miles a day to make ends meet, you are killing yourself

but if you are driving 168hrs a week, at your leisure, rested and safe with your loads on time, who cares about someone else's definition of rest

i bet you those who write the laws dont sleep 10hrs a day

Not really, as I stated it would take more time if the driver personally loaded or unloaded.

The driver should not be paid for SLC loading/unloading time because he/she is not responsible for verification.

    PreTrip-15 minutes
    PostTrip-15 minutes
    Fuel-15 minutes
Load-30 minutes until you get it unloaded then it turns into 15
Unload-30 minutes until you get it off your trailer then back it up to 15

Never log anything over 15 minutes unless you have to. I most of the time log everything at 62MPH unless it's a speed limit of 70 then I log it at 65.

in a DEF truck. fuel takes 30 minutes.

flagging 15 minutes load/unload. i don't think dot would smile with that statement. most loads take longer then 30.

So THAT is why there are never seems to be any immediately available fuel pumps these days .. fuel takes twice as long for those new, unreliable "planet saving" "trucks" ... perhaps if the truckstops don't want to loose half their business because it takes twice as long they should double their pumps .. no?

For unloading or loading I just put 15 minutes which represents checking in/backing it in .. the rest of the time, at most places, I am legitimately in the sleeper anyway, so that's what I put it as ...

Driving 168 hours a week 'at me leisure' is an oxymoron and bad math. There are only 168 hours in a week. Unless you meant the 8 day DOT week.......which still does not work out.

I can and do Fuel the Truck/DEF/Reefer in less than 15 minutes.
I almost never put more than 6 gallons at a time in the DEF Tank.
