NOD32 is usually not liked because it's not pretty and easy to figure out - you have to have a clue LOL :biggrin_255: But I find it uses minimal resources and runs quietly but efficiently in the background as well as updating frequently.

I don't use any anti-Spyware. I find the hardwall firewall of my router catches most things. I haven't had to do a reformat in almost six months!!! ROFL!!!

I also use Norton Ghost 9 ONLY for backup - but it's saved my butt many, many times - much quicker than reinstalling Win XP SP2. I also use it on my one computer that runs Windows Vista - Norton Ghost 12. It's not failed me yet so I'll stick with it. Tried other backup programs but none have worked as well and as reliably as Norton Ghost. I'd never use their antivirus or anything else, though :)

We ran five computers in this house until my daughter moved out last year. We now run four computers. One is my work computer so I HAVE to stay uninfected and working or I don't make any $$$. I've learned over the years how to trouble shoot, take apart and put back together almost every computer piece there is and I now assemble my own computers (much cheaper and better quality!!)

Glad you found NOD32 to work for you :)

Any decent virus or trojan will hide in the MBR (master boot record) of the hard drive...you will NOT :biggrin_25512: delete it by reformatting the hard drive.

Depends on how you're reformatting your hard drive and what program you're using to do it.

Very much so! The stuff that people bring in using it, is unreal. This IS NOT a secure way to get music. So if you want a secure system, buy your music. DON'T use Limewire!

it will allow viruses on the computer. and from what i say about it never turns off. it is always running no matter what and will lug the computer down.

If you're very smart and know how to use it properly and what to avoid, it's not a problem. My son uses it and has no problems. I don't - I use torrents and a couple sites where I buy my music really cheap.

I haven't bought a single OS in years ;) I had winME and winXP before they hit the shelf.

Actually, I bought a copy of win98 a few years ago...but not for my PC LOL.

    I have win95 win98 win2k winME, and winXP. All for free :D

And over 3000 songs...and an ungodly amount of software.
