Buying a truck in 2 weeks????....better be paid off, its a bad time to start as O/O unless you have the cash to stick it out till freight gets better (probably another year)......

I can't seem to get a 100% answer, but so far the answer I got was to call the JB HUNT terminal in Chicago on 47th and ask to talk to the owner operator dept. I can't seem find out exactly what the program is called, but ask about a program that lets you run under your own authority and pull their containers exclusively.

Down to Joliet? That's more than 50 miles each way! That's not a cross town.

My boss told me that one of the steamship lines told him their business is down 30%!

there's never NOT a good time to buy a truck IMO.

If you got the balls, you buy a truck and RUN that truck. Work work work. Trust me. You will go find the work, the work will not find you. Take anything dispatch gives you. even if its ####. trust me, that #### load will turn into a pot of gold. biggest mistake these owner ops do at my co. i work for, and @ RERM see's and prolly knows it .. they are the biggest cry babies.

bloody hell, just do the load ... dispatch will remember the time you tell them "oh.... my truck has a problem.. gonna get it a fixed or they refuse it" when he dispatches you a load. he sure will remember it the next time he goes down the list dispatching loads for the next day.

i keep hearing this every day when i talk to my friends and other drivers.. "not gonna buy a truck, i hear its slow".. YEAH... it's slow but because you have the mentality of "its slow.. #### it ,not buying a truck". WRONG mentality bro. If your ready to buy a truck, buy it! you wont regret it if your ready. you will regret it if your not ready. forget the aspect of slow work, not everyone is slow --- you find the right company to work for and i'll bank on you making whatever you wanna make.
