It's awfully hot in Chicago all summer, but I'm sure the Eastern European people and vibe is closer to what your wife wants in Chicago. It's got the humidity all year also. It's just that when it gets cold it is really cold. I moved around trying to find a place the opposite of FL. In FL it's easy to find old houses or apartments with no heating. I wanted a place that stayed cool/cold enough it had heating but no A/C. Even in the Northwest near the Canadian border it is near 95-105 F for months out of the year. Unless I find a match on EskimoHotties.com or GreenlandHunnies.com I discovered everywhere in the US is very hot for half of the year. Some places are a lot hotter and stay hot for longer than the random US city.

I love Florida also. Lived there a few years. Wife won't budge from Las Vegas/Henderson.
One advantage here is there's an international airport which helps us when we fly to China. -
My situation is one which I’m not looking at optimizing earnings. What I’d earn from trucking would cover our discretionary spending for the year. I might work 6 months in a year or less. I’m not sure yet.

Texas is brutal as far as the heat is concerned. But yes the cultural part is a motivating factor. My wife doesn’t dislike the cold one bit and would much prefer the mountains or the snow over anything tropical. I can’t with Florida. It’s much too humid and is constantly in a state of distress due to natural disasters.Last edited: Nov 2, 2024

Vegas is a nice place to visit without a doubt. But the heat just like Texas is something that would forever be a problem for my other half. I wasn’t aware that there was an international airport there. Is it a direct flight?

thank you for the encouragement. Are you working in Chicagoland?Last edited: Nov 2, 2024

We've had direct flights to Shanghai & Beijing until the American owned airlines started complaining. Then we had to change flights in Los Angeles or San Francisco to a Chinese airlines.
Can still get a direct flight if you don't mind flying on an American owned airline. I did that once and never again. Air China spoiled me.
ATXCowboy Thanks this. -
