The economy is booming. I know many wealthy people in China and they're not planning to leave. The ones I know are all women and geniuses in finance and playing the stock market.

Deng Xiaoping himself was pragmatic: ‘What does it matter what is the colour of the cat provided it catches mice. He was also a gradualist – ‘crossing the river by feeling for the stones’ – interested in results rather than dogma or doctrine.

    Foreign investments
China has gone a long way to becoming a market – capitalist – economy. It has opened up to foreign investment (much more than, say, India). Its firms compete internationally and invest overseas. Some Chinese entrepreneurs like Jack Ma have global recognition.

There are estimates that range from 72,000 to 110,000 Americans living in China, excluding Hong Kong and Macau.
If it were so bad over there, there wouldn't be so many Americans living there. No telling how many are living in Hong Kong and Macau that aren't in the count.

Mention the Japanese in certain parts of China and they get a little excited about it. For those that may not know the Japanese treated them brutally when they occupied parts of China before WW2 broke out. Some of them thought it was cool my grandfather fought against the Japanese. War ain't nothing to get excited or happy about though. I hate to see the tensions between our two countries. When we went over there about 6 years ago we were treated with nothing but respect and hospitality the entire time, hell we were practically minor celebrities everybody wanted multiple pics with us everywhere we went. It was a little weird lol. Politics are politics but the people I met, ate and drank with over there were good people, salt of the earth.
