You folks forget your history......and history repeats itself. The Japs couldn't beat us with conventional weapons so they beat us economically. They own all of the Hawaiian islands and half the chemical mfg. in the country.
The Chinese are the money behind Pioneer Natural Resource here in the Permian .

    Hmmmm

We still own the barge facility at Morgan's Point. I really respected Mr. Legio, I wish he was still around. Last time I was in Baytown was back in Jan or Feb, Mr. Saunders was still terminal mgr. Really nice guy, too.

My 1964 dodge dart, great car by the way,

had a bumper sticker on it.

    It said

"Buy American, your kids will need a job someday."

    Sad nobody believes bumper stickers.........

Yes he is....had no problems with him, best "common carrier " job I ever had . Legio is downtown last I heard, on the way up the ladder. Kin folk is somebody big.

Going to apply to pipeline ops once this Permian thing dies out........see what happens.

A while back, I heard Mr. Legio had left Enterprise. I hope I was told wrong, I'd be thrilled to learn that he's still with us. How are we a common carrier when we haul our own product? I thought we were a private fleet.

You out here in the Basin?

Yes, been here a couple of years but not in a truck......I'll ask a friend still in Baytown bout Legio, need to call him anyway.... Legio hired me and left for downtown while I was there.....
On the pvt. fleet...... not by my definition which is you do not engage in commerce or for hire activities, Enterprise does with LPG . Look at Grace, made and hauled their own admix products, a pvt. fleet BUT then sold transport operations to Distech. No more. Or Walmart, hauls for himself primarily to support store operations, a pvt. fleet.

You still have probably one of the best driving jobs out there. Day one bennies are unheard of along with several other things they give. Heck I got a new truck at hire. It was a POS binder but it was new. Darn thing was towed just about every week .

I didn't realize ETC hauled for third parties, apparently it is a common and/or contract carrier. But I am under the impression that ECO is still a private fleet. Either way, it's a great place to work. I'm planning on retiring in 31 more years, and I'll be here til then, God willing. The cornbinders aren't anyone's favorite, but they get the job done. The new Freightliners drive a lot better, but I still like my Pete.

Spanish is the most useful language, other than English, to know in the U.S. If someone is fluent in English/Spanish they get higher pay than knowing just English. It's a fact

actually they are building the islands so they can claim the oil and mineral rights within a 200 mile radius.
this has been a dispute between china vietnam and the philipines for decades
the philipines and vietnam actually want the us navy back in their waters because the chinese navy is building fast
