Choice program for tanker

    After looking over SNI trucks for sale, we're both correct. Some of the Cascadia EVO are spec'd 2.47 and some are spec'd 2.64.

    Either way, 2.64 is bad enough, 2.47 is really getting ridiculous.

    2.47s are just about useless. The lack of torque is so bad, that i'm slowed down by, and can't accelerate in a stiff head wind on flat ground, or on 1% grades when i'm loaded heavy (75-80k gross). And fuel mileage? If the truck even imagines it's going uphill, the fuel mileage plumits to around 3.5 to 4mpg. This garbage gearing needs to be swapped out ASAP. What would be more appropriate gearing for a 450hp DD13 with a 10-speed eaton direct, to keep my rpms above 1550-1600 @ 65mph?

    I beg to differ.... As a matter of fact with a stiff head when out on the West Coast today and 44000 pounds on my deck My truck goes up these hills like it aint nothing...

    I've 45k in the tank, and it was taking me almost 5 miles to accelerate 5mph on the flatland of I-80 west in Iowa because I have no power left in 10th gear. I've had to downshift on every hill just to stop losing speed. My average mpg today has been about 4mpg on flat ground because of this bull. You may like the 2.47 gear ratio setup, but I do not. It is more of a PITA to me than the company trucks. So I ask again, does anyone know what would be more appropriate gear ratio for a 450hp DD13 with a 10-speed eaton direct would be to keep my rpms above 1550-1600 @ 65mph in 10th gear?

    If all you're averaging is 4 miles per gallon on flat ground then you have something wrong with your truck and it doesn't have anything to do with the Gear ratio.... I average nearly 8 miles Per gallon with 45000 pounds on a flatbed.. If you're driving a company truck the problem is Schneider has neutered the trucks just like all these other big
    Fleets do.

    They castrate the lease trucks as well. They don't govern the speed but they cut the hp. If they would let them run as intended by the engineers that designed them, performance and economy would be better.

    I do think 2.47 is a bit tall though. 2.67 is more appropriate, imo, for a direct drive tranny.

    Unfortunately SFI will not allow the trucks to be turned up. If so you could do that first and see how it does before changing out the rears.

    Filled up yesterday after 458miles of 98% flat ground (I80 through Iowa/Nebraska. My MPG was 4.2 doing the speedlimit of 70. There seems to be no real difference between 65, 70, and 75mph when it comes to fuel mileage in this truck, so I just run the speed limit. If the speed limit is 65 or below, or there are any amount of hills, I have to set my cruise at 60 and just drive in 9th gear so I can attempt to maintain speed and reduce shifting. The truck has just under 23K on the clock, so if there is anything wrong, it is in the settings. Next chance I get, i'll check the settings.
