I think this happens when the skirt hits the ground. It flares outwards and either pops out of or bends away from the fiberglass brackets underneath. I've had to place 2x4s under my drive tires when backing up to a steep angled outdoor dock loaded with paper rolls (so the trailer was heavy and sitting low) in order to prevent these things from getting smacked into the ground and damaged. I like them a lot and see a noticeable increase in fuel mileage pulling trailers equipped with them vs. without, however I wish SNI would install the ones with about 6" of rubber at the bottom so that they can easily flex when they come into contact with the ground.

I looked behind the skirt of course and it looks like all the supports are nice and straight, but the brackets attaching to the underside of the trailer are not in a straight line, they are in a curve just like the skirt is. I honestly think it was installed this way!

I've picked em up like that before too, all it takes is a lil persuasion with a hammer on the brackets back towards the center of the trailer or a couple of 9/16 wrenches

Well, movers were scheduled to deliver all our stuff today and so I booked loads for tmrw. Then of course the movers call this morning and push back until tmrw so I have to call Schneider and get my first two loads pulled but can I keep my next three please? So now I am headed out on Saturday... For now....

I have picked up several that were like that. I called SEM about afew just to report how bad they were and He said that they were having to fix quite a few of them. They even had some where the skirts were too long and you couldn't slide the trailer axle to california legal.
