I would think GED would suffice.

Just found this about Watkins Shepard out of the Brea, ky terminal. With kids I would look seriously at it.
Driver Regional out 2 Nights a Week Weekends Off
    Berea, KY. 40403
Regional Runs Delivering Boxed furniture and flooring to retail locations and warehouses.

    Home weekends.

Most runs have you out Monday and Thursday nights and home all others

    Mileage, Stop and Piece Pay.

    Monthly bonuses

Fuel Bonuses that continue to rise as you fuel mileage does.

    Full Benefits after 90 days

    401k at 6 months.

    Assigned equipment

    Pet policy

    Passenger policy.

Veterans your recent time driving in the military counts with us.

If you can get your CDL, u go to Conover NC for two weeks of training and orientation. Then get a truck and go to work. No weeks with a trainer.
I do this same job out of another terminal, but I've been here a little over a year. I will make a little over 65k this year by the end of the year. Over double what I was making when I went to CDL school. And don't let the unloading fool you. We tailgate and we are giving dollies. The sofas are stood on end not stacked all you do is dolly it to the rear. Easiest job I've ever had lol

Go to MAC get their concealer. It works and covers tattoos. The girls will color match you for the perfect shade. Definitely cover the tear.

Also pal...I would not give the tats a second thought. As long as you are a good driver and keep your record clean as well as CSA score....no one will really care. This is not a suit and tie job ;)

I know whatca mean. Just trying to maximize my chances but I'm probably my own worst enemy as far as the tattoos go.

Also lots of starter company dedicated routes in Ky. If you are near Hebron Ky....the great company I work for is just opening up employment to new drivers. All dedicated...Carter Express. They used to be mostly two year driver accounts... Some still are but what they offer is better to newer drivers than just about anywhere.
