We had drivers get popped in a small town in Delaware for something much like this.
The signs say “no thru trucks over 2 axles EXCEPT LOCAL DELIVERIES” which of course doesn’t stop the Barney Fife wannabes from handing out $500 tickets like they’re trying to get rid of excess paper.
One idiot in particular actually paid his.
As much as I detest the legal profession and the parasites who inhabit it, if I ever get one of those while unloading a transmission in that particular ‘burg I’m going full Perry Mason on that one and I’ll make that cop look like the east end of a west bound horse on the stand.Gearjammin' Penguin, CRX, Sons Hero and 1 other person Thank this. -
Maryland used to do this when 53 ft trailers were spreading into the industry. The whole state essentially prohibited 53 ft trailers except as necessary to go from the interstate highway directly to a customer. It was common to get stopped on a local road that wasn't posted and then explain your route to a cop and wait to see if you were getting a ticket.

Thank you, I was not aware of this.
So much of where we deliver to requires us to go down roads with some sort of restriction it is easy to look past. -
Okay, I found this and looks like it is an ordinance
City of Glen Rose
I dont know why they have just suddenly decided to start enforcing it when its been used by us for years. However it is good to know now.
Hopefully its just going to be a simple pay it and move on with no points.
Will update with the resolution. -
I would fight it as anything going on your record is a problem now days.Feedman, Oldman83, CRX and 1 other person Thank this.

Update. Company is taking care of it and looking into why there are no posted signs on the road in question.
Im assured that nothing will be on my record since it is a city ordinance.
Will make sure that its taken care of before the deadline just to cover myself.
Certainly will not take that road ever again unless I have a delivery on it.
Appreciate the help everyone. -
That sounds frustrating. Just so I have the full picture, which state did this happen in? Local rules can make a big difference on how to handle it -

If the signage was unclear, you likely have a shot at contesting it. Talk to your company first and consider checking local ordinances or getting legal advice so it doesn’t affect your record.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this.
