It's not multi-tasking, it is task switching.
The human brain is not capable of multi-tasking.

Not being allowed to be in possession of alcoholic beverages in a CMV is a BS law if a CMV driver is responsible and only consumes when given ample time off to recuperate. What's to stop a driver from going into a bar and ordering a drink with a meal on his 10? I know many drivers who do it. What about local drivers who drink a few every day at home? Why can't an OTR driver be allowed to possess or consume responsibly? The law is silly as it pertains to this. That doesn't mean I wouldn't abide by it, I just strongly disagree.

The reason for the law is we have 2% of the drivers who are responsible and 98% who are not.

the regulations are there because of the stupid among us, and it can not be specific to make exceptions for one person who is responsible to let them get a pass.

A clear point, but again, what about drivers who hit the bar on their ten? Or local drivers who get off work and binge? You can't really fix stupidity with CMV possession restrictions. You can only prosecute those who are irresponsibly using alcohol to the full extent of the law. That is not a perfect solution, but I believe it's the only proper deterrent.

The law says you can't posses alcohol in the truck. Think of it as an IQ test. The alcohol is either in the truck or not. Writing that ticket is easy. What you want would require cops being a lot more invasive of driver's privacy & leave a lot more room for a corrupt cop to unfairly punish an innocent driver. If you want to drink a few beers after work, drink at home or in a bar. You chose to drive a truck. There are other jobs without this law.

    wis bang Thanks this.
