Heading to WM DC tomorrow. The routing they are giving me is to take US 67 out of St. Louis to US 64 to I 40W. In my opinion a much better alternative is to take I44W to Springfield then US 65S, US 412W, AR21S. Has anyone taken that route. It is shorter on miles by quite a bit and those roads besides the AR21 are pretty good (I grew up in Arkansas and traveled that road and others like it so I know what it entails and ain't scaredOpinions?

Who is they? They who pay you? Are you paying for fuel or are they?
If you are a company driver, just go the route they have laid out for you. Ypu do your job, let "they" do theirs. -
They are paying for my fuel but they are also paying for my miles/time so when I can save an hour or so of my time I make more money. With "opti routing" sometimes it is our job to do their job

Far and away I'd take their route, which involves relatively straight, flat back roads in Missouri before getting on the expressway near Jonesboro, over your which is expressway in Missouri and then twists and turns all over the place through the Ozarks.
There's a decent size truck stop next to the Clarksville Wal-Mart with the worst bathrooms I've ever seen in my life. When I used to go there I'd squeeze into that little Exxon right off of the Interstate exit, which involved three or four pull-ups, so I could use a mediocre bathroom instead of an atrocious one. Such is life in Arkansas. -
Well I could not run down AR21 as it has been black listed apparently by a driver and blocked from the system so they could not get the program to route that direction
Pretty excited about my next trip. Picking up in Siloam Springs, AR tomorrow and heading to Grantsville, Utah (another Wal Mart load) via Wyoming. Wyoming is one of the few states that I have never visited so that should be very nice. Lots of time on the load so I can do a reset if necessary as my hours are piling up, thinking about sitting it out in Wyoming in a nice place and visiting the area for a day but will play it by ear when I get there.

Wyoming is awesome. You'll like it if you like Arkansas. I'd recommend the Little America Travel Center, I-80 exit... oh, 113 or so. Nice building. Huge lot. And the mountain pass as you enter Utah is the most scenic place I've ever been.
Whenever I wanted to go slow, dispatch would insist I go fast. When I wanted to go fast, dispatch couldn't get me a load. -
Thanks for the info on the Travel Center. I have spent alot of time hiking through southern Utah and it is one of my favorite places as far as scenery on earth. I have never gotten into the upper portion of Utah though so I am looking forward to that as well. I have a delivery for Tuesday afternoon so plenty of time to ease along if I choose to which is nice for this trip.

Nice, going west already....

Yep as far as I am concerned they can keep me out here all the time. Driving across the country is so much nicer when you have nice open landscapes, minimal traffic and easy access to parking. Sitting in western Kansas tonight and the wind outside is shaking the #### out of my truck
The sun is setting and a nice rainbow to the east as well is fading away. Hoping to hit Denver around noon tomorrow to fuel up and then on northward to Wyoming. I think I will be able to make it to Rawlings tomorrow and will probably shut her down there and decide what to do with moving the appt or doing a reset.

If you are on WY 220, take some time and check out Independence Rock. There is a rest area there, and you can follow the trail out to the rock and climb it if you so desire
We got about half way up it before I chickened out. Some really neat history about that place. If you are on I80 westbound, I think somewhere before the 142, there is a rest area that has prarie dogs living all over the place.
