I noticed a bus being picked up because randy talked to the driver while giving us a spiel, and I noticed a tractor start up as well but didn't see the driver. Small world!

How did you like the course?

5 Hours today - did 2 of the three testing routes which take you around the university grounds, up a highway and through city traffic, quite varied driving. shaved 2 minutes off the pre-trip and nailed it 100% off memory - some real tight quarters driving today so I rubbed the trailer wheels curbside a bit - but thats alright .. didnt go over anything - backing up still sucks :D I'll get that soon enough - also did a highway run out to Hefley Creek as before so all in all a good day out.

I watched a guy waiting for his road test in Victoria trying to scrub all the yellow paint of his sidewalls before the examiner came out.

Yeah northern, it can be done cheaper for sure. Believe it or not there is another school that charges $4000+ more too!

It all depends on your background and how much confidence you want to have in your skills when you apply for that first job. For some of us it's worth it to have the extra training time.

On this same topic, sort of - I had my CPR-C already, but this weekend I took / passed Confined Spaces, H2S Awareness and WHMIS. I also bought but havn't completed TDG yet.. any other certs I'd need if I headed northwards with a company like trican or baker hughes? _ I did them through access-safety.net - easy, just took a few hours to go through the slides and various exams, but pretty simple common sense stuff regardless.

Tdg is a waste of time and money, the certificate will be useless since the company that hires you has to have you go threw there training and they need to issue you the certificate. I've taken it 3 times this year with different companys lol.

from what i understand from trican, when they send you to their school in red deer for the week, they will give you all the courses you need no matter if you have them or not. they rattled off a whole bunch of courses that i need and some i allready have but will take them again as a refresher.
