I went through North Shore Driving School in Burnaby. I already had my class 3 for 2 years, so I just signed up for the 20 hr. upgrade course. I thought they were very good. The only beef I had, was the preperation for the pre-trip. I studied my arse off, and memorized the entire pre-trip and recorded myself and checked it.
I stayed away from Valley. I took my class 3 with them and it was a joke. I failed the first time. I studied on a tandem axle flat deck and took my test on that. I aced it.
Class 1 school in Vancouver area.

I passed! Only 25 demerits. Had to do a quick stop and the other was blocking an intersection with my trailer setting up for a turn. I have booked more time with them. Doing 2 days of Super B Train and 6 more hours on the 53' trailer. My instructors were awesome.

What's your plans for work? -
Either the Patch or Lower Mainland. Not sure which yet.

I did my class 1 at transport training center of canada in Abbotsford. It was about year ago an cost me about $4000 includes medical, air-brakes and test fees. I believe all I have paid at school was something about 3600. Road test passed with easy about month later. Had a class 5 before.
they also do heavy equipment at reasonable price, mounting driving for trucks. -
Congrats long walker!

Congrats thelongwalker! My road test is scheduled for next friday - should be a breeze since I have only rubbed the curb a couple times since I started. Pre-trip is down to memory and aced. I've applied at a few places locally and out in the patch just to get an idea of whats out there, but I don't think I'll do anything / go anywhere until January.

The thing that concerns me about the Patch is, it's sounds like 30% driving, 70 % other work. I would like to find a job like what Nate has. I called Sanjel and they were interested once I told them I had done some train work. She asked if I would be interested in hauling sand in Super B's. Pay is 77k a year and they fly me to/from Victoria on my 14 days off. I just have NO idea what I'll be doing when i'm not driving and it kind of freaks me out a bit.
