Like I said above, Suspensions hurt. So does the severity of the violations. Insurance companies all have their own rules regarding:

    Minimum age,
    minimum experience,
work history [one want to reject anyone with 2 or more jobs in one year -or- more than 6 in the past 3 years],
    and violations.

The one company gives 1 point for speed under 15mph over and most moving violations BUT 2 points for over 15 MPH, following too closely, improper lane change, and accidents.

Potential drivers cannot exceed 4 points during the past 3 years...BTW non-moving violations count too but it takes 3 to get one point.

Plus the deadly sins that can't be found during the past 5 years...must be over 5 years old to be considered.

    DUI
    RECKLESS
    HIT AND RUN
LEAVING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT
    PASSING A SCHOOL BUS
    RACING
ANY FELONY CONVICTION THAT IS RELEVANT TO THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION BEING OFFERED

These insurance rules limit who we can hire. the above was from the AIG loss control manual; most companies are somewhat similar...

Well, if your ex POS slave driving boss doesn't want to verify your employment....dont fret...because if you have gone thru a scale and ever had a level 1 thats on record and companies use that as an alternative to prove that you have driven in the past year or 2.
I found this out when my ex-client-boss did the same to thing to me.
I had found another owner operator on craigslist to drive for and he only owned the truck. I had to fill out an app for the company he was leased with and they did the background checks.
I told them that he probably won't give me a good reference because we ended on bad terms.
The company said that's ok...we will just run your name on the DMV Commercial license check and if you were pulled into the scales we will see it
