I've been a Class B driver since 2011. Due to uncontrollable circumstances at my current job, it appears I may be forced to seek other employment opportunities in the near future. Rather than take another low-paying job as a Class B driver with an "X" endorsement, I have decided this would be the right time to take a break and go back to school for my Class A.
I am well aware that drivers that intend to upgrade from a B to an A must attend school for ELDT training. However, if I'm reading the laws correctly (which I may not be, hence my question,) If a CDL driver was issued a CDL, endorsement or even a permit BEFORE February 7, 2022, drivers are exempt from ELDT training, as this requirement is not retroactive. However, The state of Florida does not mention an exemption for drivers that were issued a CDL before the deadline (2011,) but rather, those who hold a permit issued before the mandate took effect.
If ELDT training is required regardless, it's not an issue for me. I'm just trying to gather all information required before I enroll back in school. Any information is greatly appreciated.

A driver with a specific class CDL before Feb 2022 is exempt because the ELDT training is NOT retroactive. Even if you had a class B for 20 years you still have to take the ELDT training to upgrade to CDL A.
