Class A w/ endorsements

The local gasmem around here drive like grandmas. Every once in a while I'll see an OTR tanker hauling hazmat like a madman down the highway. They're probably just trying to get out of the state.

 

At my current job we could get away with driving like madmen. At the company that trained me, we got written up any time we exceeded 58MPH. I am not in the NorthEast, I run out of the San Francisco Bay Area. My salary might be a little inflated for the region, with my 4 years experience as a driver I can easily make $64,000 running on a 4 on 3 off schedule. If I work the 5th day, it's all OT and that bumps me up closer to $75,000. We have guys who run 6 days a week and gross around $105,000, that's maxing out all hours of service basically. Our guy's OT rate is between $35.00 and $36.00 depending on seniority, and a lot of our time is waiting to load, waiting unload product at refineries. It's rather complex work for the inexperienced but it's not impossible to learn.
