Wasn't sure where to post this so here it goes. I've had my cdl for 2 yeas next month. Been driving flatbed for lowes tje whole time. I've gotten to the point to where I'm ready to move on once my 2 Years is up. I've aquire my tanker and hazmat endorsement. Looking at other job postings I always see a clean mvr as a requirement. My question is do I have a clean mvr?

About a year and a half ago I was almost hit head on in my personal vehicle. School kid crossed the yellow line. If I hadn't seen her when I did and was able to slow down she would of dead centered my car. But she just clipped the passenger side front fender.

Then about a month later I had a women T-bone me. She pulled out of the turning lane and right into my driver side door. She was arrested for dui. This was a terrible string of luck. Both accidents was in my personal vehicle and I wasn't issued any citations. Question, is this going to affect me being able to land another job?

Highly unlikely,it wasn't your fault. But if the applications want you to list all accidents even if you're not at fault you must list them.

    If I'm understanding you correctly:
I'd worry less about the accidents, and more about where you wanna start your career in trucking.
Delivering sheet rock locally for a home improvement store does not qualify as experience to any of these OTR companies.

Google your MVR... type in DMV and your home state into google, and you can get an abstract. Was your CDL class A or B? I know the Lowes' here in Ohio utilize both. That may make a difference as well.
Keep us posted; be safe til you make the transition. Best wishes.

I have no desire to run over the road. I have small children at home right now. Being home every nights means alot. Surprisingly lowes actually pays their cdl drivers decent. Last year I made 32k. And for my area that is above averase pay. My goal is to get into delivering fuel.

Im tempted to say working for Lowes decking their loads is not exactly high brow over the road experience. You would be fighting traffic all day every day.

You might consider a regional that would run a radius or specific area for daily or weekly home time. It will look better in terms of experience you seek.

As far as your accidents, list them. But since you were a victim I would not worry too much about it. But remember the more you fight traffic in a big truck the easier it is to hit someone or something and be fired for it. OTR offers less of a risk of doing so. 32K income is ok, but not much. You would need almost half that for housing and family expenses and the rest will vanish into taxes.

I am driving a tractor and flat bed trailer with moffett attached. Where I live in rural east tn the cost of living is pretty low. Plus my wife makes decent money also so we get by pretty well. OTR driving just doesn't appeal to me. I try to take care of myself health wise and OTR does not allow a person to do that.

When in doubt about how a company will handle accidents; bring in a copy of the police report(s) to show who was 'At Fault', A lot of insurance companies will allow one at fault accident in the past 3 years. Having a PD report that shows you were not at fault to submit with the application goes a long way to get the carrier to run you thru the insurance and get approval instead of the application being passed over....
