Just to help out any potential newbies that might not get the joke, In the years I was OTR I never once saw a truck stop shower that wasn't a private shower, think hotel room bathroom without the hotel room, that was assigned to the next driver.

There might have been communal or high school lockerroom type showers in the old days when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, but mostly these types of showers are the figment of internet fantasy authors of a certain bent. In the typical truck stop there will be a half dozen or more private rooms with full bathroom and shower facilities and they are cleaned after each use. The variation is in how much or how well they are cleaned after use, but you won't be bumper to bumper with anyone in the shower unless you bring your own crowd with you.

If you frequent the big chain truck stops (Pilot, Flying J, Petro, etc) the above holds true with variation among locations for cleanliness.

Don't plan on a quick stop into the truck stop around dinner time and getting a meal and a shower in a hurry. You and 98% of the other drivers have the same idea. The key to no-wait showers is be off-peak otherwise you could wait 1-3 hours for a shower.

    Big Duker Thanks this.

Just what he said. Not at meal time. Especially late afternoon/early evening. Lots of drivers ending day and looking for parking. If you show up 9am-3pm not as crowded. Or late nights. And depends on truckstop too. a big one like Pilot in Grand Island ,NE has about 35 shower on an upper floor drivers section. Normally no problem any time. I was at Love's in McAllen TX and about 3 for lots of drivers. Signed up about 6:30 and told them I wanted about 10pm and they worked it out. And I was surprised at how clean it was. Loves are normally not the finest.

at those punjabi owned truck stops, you'll probably want to wear condoms on your feet. shower shoes won't stop the crap from giving you "itchy, burning feet".

Speaking of which I have seen during several occasions more than one person use the same shower at the same time.

    a group of RVers

a tour group of German, Austrian or Swiss (they were speaking German) high school students

a two family group on a vacation

What's the T/S policy on this? Don't drivers get angry that non trucking industry people are using their showers?

Favorite place to shower was at the Betto Junction TA in Kansas exit 155 on I35. They have double head showers one on each side, or atleast the one I was in had that. It was the best shower I ever had on the road, clean an huge bathrooms, and pretty good food there to, an always lots of parking spots there.
