Could be the haze is not from gunk on the window but small scratches from the wipers over time.

Vinegar works the best, however, your windshield may be "pitted" from blowing dust/sand over time. I always clean the wiper blades when I wash the windshield, since they can accumulate lots of dirt, which you don't want on your windshield.

Denatured alcohol is probably the best solvent with regard to cleaning glass w/o attacking anything you might drip it on.

If your glass is "hazed" maybe the best trick is writing it up for maintenance. If that doesn't work note it on your log the day/before you arrive at a carrier maintenance facility, then write it up.

Windshield glass is a "wear item" and routinely needs replacement, regardless of breakage. Carrier maintenance should/probably does have them in stock, and if they don't it shouldn't take more than an hour to get it.

Modern vehicle glass resembles vintage glass in 2 respects; it's transparent, and they call it glass. You can ruin it with OOOO steel wool and half a thimble of elbow grease, so don't try that, you'll probably get blamed for it.

You also need to clean the inside of the glass as sometimes the haze is an indication that your heater core is going bad and you have anti freeze vapors leaking out.

    homemade learned from my mom
pure ammonia diluted with water 50% , no soap it streaks ,spray on then dry with cheap newspaper the kind that leaves ink stains on your hand just crumple it up and wipe away,I find the advertising pages most " ink heavy". (the ink is a micro polish) .
The only no streak and fast solution I have found. Glass is invisible after.

As s smoker (I know, I know BAD Aminal) I have found that I need to deep clean my inside glass daily to keep the film from developing. Rubbing alcohol cuts right through cigarette smoke film. It's also the final step in getting the glass super clean before applying RainX. If there is any residue of anything on the glass when the RainX goes on it will crate a film that darned near takes the afore mentioned rocks to cure. Plus, a little in the glad-hands in winter can help de-ice the lines. The expensive de-icer in truck stops is like 98% isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and rubbing alcohol is a heck of a lot cheaper.

I squeak when I walk too. LOL.

Use Bar Keepers Friend with water to clean the Road film off the window. It will leave a white film so you will need to wash the window with soap and water to get all the residue off. When you clean your windows use a Newspaper not paper towels, paper towels will streak, but a newspaper will clean streak free.

Gotta beg to differ. Glass in a truck almost never needs to be replaced routinely unless your talking 10 - 15 years.
