Dawn dish soap, diesel fuel, calcium chips, calcium chlorite. All that depends on the weather, temperature, product, trailer, etc.

As for tools....a long handled ice scraper, a small pick axe, and a shovel. Sometimes no matter what chemicals ya use...it just takes some elbow grease and sweat.

^^^^ makes sense. Dawn dish soap gets oil off the birds that get trapped into the slicks that stupid humans create. What the heck is IN that stuff?!? Yep, everything depends on weather and temp...true there.
    Calcium chips......Chlorite? or ChorIDE?

Not sure that I ever did hear the name of their chemical. They just told me they had it. I think their spray station was just a catwalk like you described.

Release agent is anything you spray in the bed to help release the load .....what is used depends on the state and the mix.

Peanut oil is the new favorite.....

On popcorn mix jobs ( don't do these much anymore) we've had a small backhoe that hangs in the clean out area with a narrow bucket without teeth . And a real operator . Problem solved :)

One of our competitors plants just made a guy dump a load of mix in the junk pile. The state inspector said he smelled diesel while checking the load at the inspection rack....

The plant wants the hired truck to pay $700 for the load..... It's a big cluster f###.

I've also seen inspectors take there gloved hand and wipe it against the back of the tailgate to check for sprayed diesel.....

I toss desiel on that black top dump box. Wait over a smoke and hydrate then start picking the chunks. with the bed up a little.

Desiel is also used to repossess non paying people's blacktop driveways too. Apply over night wait to morning then backhoe it.

Overall you have to be careful what you use though with your customer base. Some customers only want some products used and other absolutely don't want some stuff used.

For instance...we used to haul coal into a certain plant and they actually paid us extra to put diesel fuel in each load (freezing temps or not). But anothe plant we used to haul into ordered we use NO diesel fuel.
