Jan 6 was the date the clearinghouse was to go into operation. There was never a deadline to register set by the FMCSA.

I was on the phone with OOIDA and they mentioned the same thing. In effect Jan 6, but deadline is not specified, but is more so around this time next year (for deadline)

Ok, I just read up on some of this. From what I understood, if you’re not hiring anyone, after 1-6, regristration isn’t needed. Not until annual required info update is required. Whatever that means. No need to register, since I’m a single Owner Operator. I have 1 Driver, myself. Neither my Company, or myself needs to register. Until whatever info is needed in a year from now to stay compliant. Then I must register my Company, and update the required info on my Driver,(Myself). Am I missing anything? Don’t want any surprises next week, Am I still in Compliance? Even though I haven’t registered. I think I’m good, unless I read it wrong.

The 1/6/2020 was just the date that the clearinghouse started. It was not a deadline to register. You are correct and should register your company as a carrier and yourself as a driver at you convenience. Before next year anyway.

It is also if you are leased on to a carrier. You must register in order for the to have access to your record.
