2018 567 Pete, MX13. Second shift wanted to put another PM sensor on it after putting one on last week. Warranty is under mileage, but out 25 days by time. See what kind of policy Paccar offers. DPF is $3k.

 

Hours and miles? We have found quite a few EPA 17 cracked DPFs with no other underlying issues.

Make sure you clean everything spotless or the soot will contaminate the new PM sensor.

 

Don't get to do the repair, service manager @ Peterbilt skipped me ahead to front of line for tommorow morning. No underlying issues like you stated. Truck just turned 150,000 miles. Did air management sensor cleanup @ 125,000 and looked normal, nothing excessively soot packed or signs of oil contamination. I will let you all know the outcome.

 

Friday.....

I do my normal delivery of our company 450 deere dozer and 240 deere excavator, then do a van trailer run for a customer...

I jump into the van trailer and moved one skid of children’s wooden sleds to the front of the trailer with a pallet jack when my phone vibrated.

text message from Doug (dozer operator):

I need Brutus ASAP! (Brutus is our 850C Deere dozer) I have 5 dump trucks hauling in fill and the 450 broke down!

Shawn: ok! Coming.

(Told the customer that I have to go, just fill the trailer and I’ll be back for it. )

Text from Doug:

Drive your old ford like you stole it!

Shawn: I already did. Threw the customer’s van trailer off and heading to the yard to fetch the float!

I get the 850 over to the site from the other site it was at and brought the 450 back to the shop to repair it.

The idler pulley bearings broke and snagged the belt, ruining it.

I finish the van trailer load (it was local anyway) and went with the big ford to fetch parts from a local John Deere.

No parts available, bearings, belt or rad hoses. All have to be ordered in.

 

This one is just a Click, No Boom.......yet. Can't grasp why or how this should ever happen. Someone for the love of God.....please take their tools away.

 

Well this sucks....

Loaded with 4x4 concrete blocks on the deck.



Looked like one U-bolt snapped and the other went after.

Pulled over after seeing smoke coming out from under the trailer.

Got the arm up off the ground with the winch bar, then a floor jack from a local shop to raise it up back to the axle.

Chained it up with a binder, took the air line off that air bag, raised the trailer with air, placed blocks of wood under the frame above the axles and lowered the trailer on to the wood.

This keeps the load off the axle that’s broke.

Was able to go a few miles to pull into a truck repair facility.

Tomorrow the trailer gets the load transferred on to another trailer to be delivered.

 

Creative thinking but I wonder if a pretrip might’ve caught it before it got that far.. I’m a Canadian who runs the rust zone and imo that suckers rusty .

 

That hasn't seen a pre trip or a shop in a long time.

 

Magoo68: The u-bolt wasn’t broken when it was checked. Snapped at both ends.

It is an old trailer that was completely rebuilt before I worked at the company.

The underside was never painted.

Was just at the suspension shop today.

They’re replacing the u-bolts.

I told them to replace all u-bolts that don’t look right to them.
