Ya it does but its a real ##### to wrap around on the floor to cut too. Might as well just suck it up and straddle the block.

I can remember when we had 2674 IH tri-axle dump trucks and changing #6 Injector on a N-14 sitting in driver's seat as I did it! Don't miss them piles of #### at all.

And I thought working on Cat equipment sucked lol.

Well another dealer in our group just broke our micra tool so we will have the monaco on order shortly for the paccars. We own the monaco for cat and cummins.
I have not heard good things about shimming a paccar. Seems like alot of people are doing it but the half dozen I know of personally all failed again within 6 months.Flint1, Shawn2130, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I should add I am interested in the OEM cummins tool for cutting counterbores. They added a spring pack to the tool to allow constant even downpressure with no user interaction. They also added a big steering wheel for the turning part.

Brass or stainless shim on failures? Guessing your neck of woods they might have "aftermarket exhaust". I haven't even had a head off one yet on one except training.Flint1, Shawn2130, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this.

Stainless i think?? Some had a free flow exhaust some didnt.Flint1, Shawn2130, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this.

Wish they would come up with better shims, wider at least.Flint1, Shawn2130, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this.

For the cummins? We have had very good luck with all oem stuff. I know the shim doesnt seem big enough but it gets the job done. We have never cut a block twice and I dont think we have seen broken shims unless they had very high milage or excessive hp.Flint1, Shawn2130, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this.

Yes, on Cummins but I always overthink and I am super picky @ counterbore joints. Makes or breaks an overhaul. Curious what reason Cummins has given you guys for the counterbore wear issues. I pretty sure @Goodysnap has already done a X15 with dropped liner.Flint1, Shawn2130, 650cat425 and 1 other person Thank this.
