    I'm more amazed there's not something wedged in there with a hose clamp so it's always turning. Although I suppose February could explain that.

    Paccar. High profile customer. This particular truck is out of warranty. Customers cost on the new compressor??????.........$115.00.

    Loose bearings or bent axle housing? Looks like a misalignment failure more than a torsional or shock load failure.

    Meritor disagrees with you and Denied the warranty claim as shock load. Wheel bearings were not loose and tis a new chassis with 75K on the clock. No evidence of axle housing damage. This one got a reman diff and both shafts. Splines were quite chewed up on the locking side axle as well.

    That's odd, typically a shock load/excess torsional load tears the shaft apart with a 45 degree break. Misalignment is usually a cleaner break.
