I live next to a welder that likes to party. During the (so called) lockdown they were partying. They did the ole acetylene bomb party gag using a 3 foot yoga ball. The cops recieved calls from 2 miles away. Knocked stuff off of shelves in my house. The guy who put the ball on the fire got hit with exploding ball parts. He was hopping around screaming that he couldn't hear. When I chatted with him the next day, he said it was like a towel whip from god. He was bruised from ear to ankle.
Stupid hurts.D.Tibbitt, spsauerland, InTooDeep and 2 others Thank this. -

Somehow I missed this thread. I've mentioned this in other posts in the o/o section. I got some carnage from last spring's turbo explosion, engine runaway, motor oil everywhere...
It cleaned up nice, put a new turbo on, and got it running again but about a month later a connecting rod bearing seized. Several lessons learned from that one. If I had it to do over again the bearing never would have seized and I'd still be driving it.
I wish I had rolled in all brand new bearings and even cam bearings. Probably replace camshaft and rocker arms too. I didn't and the result of that runaway engine starving the engine of oil is what lead to the seized bearing. Replacing those bearings and camshaft were beyond my abilities and money was tight. I did have the funds to get that done even tho it would have stretched things super tight and wish I had now. I fixed the turbo and a lot of other things myself.
After I replaced the turbo when the truck idled I could see my mirrors had a little excessive shaking to them. I thought I needed to get the top end inspected and at a minimum valve lash adjusted. I had run it locally for a few weeks seeing how it did and it did fine. So then I book a 700 mile trip to Florida and about 80 miles from my destination the engine seized while idling at a truck stop.Rideandrepair, D.Tibbitt, Big Road Skateboard and 9 others Thank this. -
