I'm guessing there is o-rings on them and could be hard/brittle from heat and seeping.

Feedman, Dale thompson and Oxbow Thank this.

    I found them.....

Confirmed coolant seal plug with O-ring. 26mmx2mm

    Plug Part number - 2000736
    O-ring Part number- 1922082

New o-rings should do the trick- as others stated they can get hard and brittle over time

Both are the same part number- shows 2

This was really cool to see. A few different vids on what happened and the process.

Low hour JD engine went CaBlewey!!!!

Engine let go on Thursday. Deere came out and replaced the engine right out in the Field and had it up and running by Sunday.

Pretty Impressive really!!!! Things like this that make me glad to be in a shop.

Flint1, IH9300SBA, lester and 5 others Thank this.

2005 International 5600 with Cummins isx cm807. Engine was overhauled a few years ago with a PAI kit.

Recently the cab started filling up with the smell of black smoke and exhaust. Fumigated the driver out of the cab.

Brought it in for repair. Set up a platform and short ladder due to the height of the truck as it is a twin steer.

Those VGT turbo’s are not light.

I’m 6 foot 2 and the engine is almost as high as I am.

Engine block is black instead of red Cummins paint.

    Got the manifold off.

I was expecting the rear two exhaust ports to have blown gaskets only to find the front two are blown as well. The center two are fine.

Sent the manifold away to be planed. The machinist says that’s a common problem and has a fixture just for that. Easy fix.

    looks much better now.

I did fieldwork for over half a decade. I liked it for the most part. You definitely need to be on your A-game because there is no backup - no 2nd set of hands and no parts department 50 feet away. Its you and how well you're prepared.

That said, winter is coming, I'm in the shop and I'm the first guy to start yelling at apprentices when they leave doors open.
