You can talk to your dispatcher. You don't gotta go home every two weeks. We used to stay out 3 or 4 weeks at a time an never had a problem going home for 3 or 4 days.

Dumped 6 gallons of oil on the blue beacon driveway across from the speedco in Effingham. Got that fixed an truck washed. Then had an air to air hose rupture bout 70 miles from delivery in Mississippi. Lucky I had an old hose for a spare. Fixed it myself in ten minutes. Ran down to West point an fueled, showered an died for six hours.Peace_Maker, motocross25, bryan21384 and 1 other person Thank this.

Well I guess I'd ask them why they denied your app.bryan21384 and motocross25 Thank this.

Your CDL has to match your home address. This is a DOT Retirement. You would need to change your CDL before applying. This can be a problem sometimes.

You had one hell of a day. You do like I do and keep spare parts. I would have needed a beer after all that.Peace_Maker and Professor No-Name Thank this.

Appreciate all the feedback guys! This is helpful to know. Like I said, being single and living alone means no one is at the house waiting for me. But my daughter is a single parent and I like to give her a break and spend time with my grandsons during the times they are off school for breaks. This year I stayed out from Jan 8th until March 16th so I could have the entire spring break to keep my grandsons so my daughter doesn't have to find childcare. But being on otr Truck driver is all about making adjustments and pivoting. I also anticipate running reefer (equipment and schedule) is going to be a little of an adjustment for me. As you know flatbed only pu/delivers during business hours, and I had a pretty regular 430/5am-5/6pm driving schedule at my dry van company I've been at for almost the last year. (In bed by 8pm up at 330am)ahhhh. Sweet but many reasons why I had to start looking for something different. And what is life but a continuing series of adjustmentsPeace_Maker, bryan21384 and dwells40 Thank this.

I knew a guy when I worked there that got hired while he was living in I believe it was Las Vegas.
He kept his residence there an went home every 6 months to see his family. I believe he left his truck at Climate on home time an flew home an back. I've known them to work out some different things to accommodate drivers different situations. So I would still ask them why his app was rejected. Cuz believe me if there was a way they could hire him they would.Peace_Maker and bryan21384 Thank this. -
An by the way don't fall for the idea that they mean it when they say ya can't bank a day off for every week out. They will end up accommodating your home time requests within reason as long as you show that your a hard charger. We never had any home time requests balked at at all.Peace_Maker, bryan21384, Thrasher28 and 1 other person Thank this.

Reefer life is a bit if an adjustment, but I think it will be easier here. You'll have a lot of time to get loads where they need to be, on occasion I get too much time lol. Climate isn't a typical reefer company, because we don't go to the meat plants, nor do we do a huge amount of grocery warehouses. We do our share, but its mostly do the foodservice spots, McLane, PFG etc. So many of our customers have overnight parking, or parking very close to the facility so that'll be a plus as well.JForce28, Peace_Maker, motocross25 and 1 other person Thank this.
