They bought a few of them at the top of year. They wanted to try them out because the current model of Volvos that we have will eventually be the past. They had a new VNL 860 on the yard to show off but the owner felt it was too heavy so he opted to try the freight shakers. We're still getting the 760 Volvos, but after this batch get sold off, it's no telling what direction they will take. Maybe they start evolving to Freightliners, or maybe look at the smaller VNL 660.Friend, Peace_Maker, Knucklehead and 2 others Thank this.

I’m surprised they didn’t try some Mack Anthems. I hear good things from other drivers about them and they owned by Volvo I believeFriend, Peace_Maker and bryan21384 Thank this.

Yea Mack owns Volvo. But they're gonna be done making Anthems. They're going to be or are making Mack Pioneers. They're basically the same as the new Volvo VNL 860's. Ya get a little more horsepower options with the Mack which I don't get. They're the same motors so I figured horsepower is just a setting in the computer but I could be wrong I guess. I have a 23 Anthem pulling a hopper bottom. I'm 29300 full of fuel empty weight. Met a guy with a 95 Pete pulling the same style trailer. He said he was 27000 something empty weight. He only had a 36 inch coffin sleeper though.Friend, JForce28 and Knucklehead Thank this.

I looked up the 660 Volvo. It looked about the same as the 860 but maybe a shorter bunk.Friend, bryan21384 and Knucklehead Thank this.
-
Yes it's a shorter one. I saw one recently, I think Artur Express was rolling with it. I think for that style and body shape, I think the 660 looks better, but when you creat your own on their, there are some of each model that looks way sharper.Friend, Professor No-Name and Knucklehead Thank this.

He may have the same dilemma with the anthems about the weight. Id definitely be ok with a Mack Anthem. Next to Volvos, Mack also was one of my favorite trucks to drive.Friend, Peace_Maker, Knucklehead and 1 other person Thank this.

I’ve had anthems for 6 years now and I personally do not like them, I don’t feel the build quality is all that great. I will say this though, I put mine to the test based on the work that I do pulling a frameless end dump, I spend quite a bit of time on secondary roads, and off road, it might make a great road tractor, but for the riggers of agriculture work, it doesn’t really measure up.

I asked for one of the Freightliners when they came in. I like it. The sleeper is a little bigger and there's more storage space. The fridge is just a touch bigger. There is also a notable difference in engine power. It's easier to pull a hill in this with the Detroit engine. I hope they stick with them. I wouldn't want to go back to a squished truck. LolFriend, Knucklehead and bryan21384 Thank this.

Nice! They definitely look sharp for real. Volvos are definitely lacking for space inside. They keep the RPMS so low on these Volvos now....since I got in this 25 model, it isn't quite as strong as the 12 series i was in. You run 68 mph on 1000 RPMs versus 12 series it was closer 1300 RPMs if I remember right. I felt the power then. Its still strong but not like the old ones, but my fuel mileage is through the roof! That's probably their biggest priority. I'm betting there will be a gradual shift to Freightliners over the next couple of years.Friend, Knucklehead and Peace_Maker Thank this.
