You know it's been years since I've gone to a Food Lion. I was pulling dry van as well, the ones I've gone to were in Virginia, and those were nightmares too. This time wasn't bad though. It was about 2 hrs to unload. It had been sometime since I've gone somewhere in which they wanted the lumper paid before unloading. I had to haul ### to Grenvulle afterwards to get another Sauer load. That went to New Century. Reloaded there for Fairfield, OH. It was originally supposed to deliver Wednesday, but they bumped up the delivery to today. I got here at 3am and I was exhausted. I'll head to Holts Summit with some Ken's dressing once I leave here....hopefully before Judgement Day lol.

Sheesh man. You'll have to get your macho on to make that happen. They'll probably reschedule it and take it off of you since your delayed. I'll probably pass you the other way. I'm headed to Texas right outside Houston to get to Costco

I crossed your travel path as I'm on my way from Phoenix to Alabama. Pine bluff plant broke down so having to go to different customer. Posted up just east of Shreveport. Be home Friday instead of Thursday but things happen sometimes.

    Little update

Flight from Austin, TX to St Louis was quick and painless. Eddie/Ed/Edward (which does he like to be called?) picked me up, nice hard working guy/good chat on the way to the hotel. Hotel wasn't bad, slept pretty good those 2 nights.

Orientation 1st day was a breeze, Karen came out 1st thing in the morning and gave us the expectations of working here and she didn't hold back on anything, she's awesome and I'm glad she gave us the warm welcome. Road test with Scott in Safety was nice and simple. I can't tell you how much I appreciate a safety manager who UNDERSTANDS a driver like he does. His videos and talks the several hours 1st & 2nd day was very informative and not just a rambler like the last couple of orientations I've been to, he kept it 110% real. Robin was just as informative and helpful with onboarding, getting everything squared away with us and explaining the HR part of the job, sweet lady. BIG PROPS to Nathan in maintenance who spent 2-3hrs explaining all of the maintenance procedures and parts reefer/truck that come along with the job, I've been to so many orientations where maintenance comes in for like 10 mins and dips, Nathan made sure we understood how to get around the shop. Dave in maintenance showing us the entire truck was a BIG help too! All 3 of us in orientation have never driven a Volvo, he made sure we understood the entire truck front to back.

Robert(DM) came out this morning before I left the terminal to Edwardsville. He was as straight to the point as he could possibly be with how he wants us to run, what he needs from us, the whole shebang. Really nice guy, I have actually worked for 4-5 mega's and never once met my DM, what a surprise. He's an ex-driver here too?! Such a huge plus

I honestly have no complaints so far. Yeah, they gave me a truck with 440k miles with some wear and tear and I completely understand.. these trucks need to keep moving before they get sold and I'm happy to drive them to the end. I really like how the Volvo drives compared to the KW/Pete/Freightshakers I've driven before this. I'm pretty sure I found my retirement company, truly.

Thanks again to Edward, Karen/Paula, Robin, Scott, Dave, Courtney, Vanessa, Nathan, Robert and whoever I missed during these quick 3 days. This company is lucky to have all of them

Welcome aboard man!!!! That is what i enjoy about this company. Straightforward thinking and a good work culture. The shop I feel is the strength of the company because good, nice mechanics who know their ####, and they could fix pretty much anything same day. Don't get too comfy in the truck though. At that mileage you won't be in it too much longer. Where ya headed from Edwardsville?
